Samsung is ready to announce a new Android smartphone that’s part of the innovative and feature-packed mid-range A Series. The Korean tech giant is hosting an interesting event today, called the “ 4X Fun ”, which could be a direct reference to the Samsung Galaxy A9s and its four rear cameras.
Samsung has been increasingly focusing on the mid-range Android smartphone segment. The company recently managed to regain its dominion over the premium smartphone market in India. However, it has been lagging behind the Chinese smartphone companies like Xiaomi, Honor, Asus, Oppo, and others in the mid-range and affordable Android smartphone segment.
To remedy the situation, the company recently unveiled two interesting devices. The Samsung Galaxy J4 Plus for the affordable segment. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy A7 packs triple cameras on the pack and still manages to stay within the mid-range segment. Samsung has been insisting it would bring new and exciting features to its mid-range smartphones first. True to its word, the company may announce the Galaxy A9s with four rear cameras today.
Incidentally, MSP Gear recently revealed exclusive images of the Samsung Galaxy A9s. Owing to a few leaks, we are aware of quite a few details about the smartphone. However, Samsung could offer more details with regards to the pricing and availability of the smartphone at the event. The biggest highlight of the Samsung Galaxy A9s is undoubtedly the four camera setup on the back. The smartphone packs 24MP primary sensor that’s coupled with a large f/1.7 aperture. Then there’s an 8MP Ultra Wide camera with an f/2.4 aperture, which is paired with 10MP resolution telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom and an f/2.4 aperture. Finally, there’s a dedicated 5MP depth-sensing module for Live Focus, which is paired with an f/2.2 aperture. The front-facing single camera will have a large 24MP sensor.
The Samsung Galaxy A9s will feature a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED Infinity Display featuring 1080 x 2220 pixels resolution and an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. An octa-core chipset clocked at 2.2 GHz, likely to be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 AIE, will power the Samsung smartphone. Interestingly, the Androind handset will launch in a single memory configuration with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. A dedicated micro-SD card slot can expand storage by about 400GB.
A relatively large 3,720mAh battery will power the Samsung Galaxy A9s. the smartphone will support Fast Charging and Dolby Atmos. In addition to a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner there’s facial recognition, and Samsung Pay support as well.
The Samsung Galaxy A9s will ship with the Android 8.1 Oreo-based Samsung Experience UX. The mid-range Android handset will launch in Black Caviar, Bubblegum Pink, and Lemonade Blue color options.
Samsung is yet to officially acknowledge the existence of the Samsung Galaxy A9s. Hence the pricing and availability remain a mystery. But the specifications indicate the smartphone could be a upper mid-range Android handset.
The triple-camera Galaxy A7 launched recently. The smartphone starts at Rs. 25,600. With four rear cameras, the Galaxy A9s could sport a slightly bigger price tag. Samsung should confirm these critical details at the event today.
