“Even though the OnePlus 6T is an iterative upgrade, it does bring a slew of new features”
It’s that time of the year when most of us wait with bated breath for the latest offering from OnePlus. Dubbed the OnePlus 6T ( review), the handset has been doing the rounds of the rumourville for a while now, and it has now just gone official at an event held in New York. While the phone seems to be an iterative upgrade over its predecessor, the OnePlus 6 ( review), it brings along some interesting capabilities. Let’s take a closer look at all the features that the OnePlus 6T has to offer.
No, OnePlus isn’t pulling out a leaf from Apple’s playbook and completely relying on Face authentication as it has removed a physical fingerprint scanner. Instead, the 6T offers an in-screen fingerprint sensor, the one we have already seen on the likes of the Vivo X21 UD ( review) and recently-launched V11 Pro ( review). The under-the-display fingerprint reader ensures a cleaner design, while making it easier to unlock the device even when it’s kept on a surface.
While the camera specs remain the same — i.e. a dual-camera setup on the back with 20MP + 16MP shooters and a 16MP f/2.0 front-facing shooter — OnePlus is offering some neat features on the software level. Nightscape mode for instance, aims to improve the low-light camera performance by capturing the image with a shutter speed of three seconds to allow more light to enter the sensor, and thus, clicking more details and vibrant colours.
Needless to say, the OnePlus 6T is slightly expensive as opposed to its predecessor, though it does come with twice the storage in the base variant. We’ll get to know the 6T’s Indian pricing in less than 24 hours, with the sales of the Amazon-exclusive smartphone scheduled from November 1st.
