I think there is another creative revolution to be had and although we haven’t had it yet, many of us are trying to figure out ways to make it happen. In modern times, there is so much momentum and so much money and so much investment! If you think about it, when it comes to music and fashion and all the people that have to do their jobs and so on, there’s this massive financial infrastructure to keep it all operating the way it is. In a word, society does not like to tolerate risk. Moreover, people who have the power to access change and structure are labeled too risky. Metaphorically speaking, it is very arduous to give people a fresh canvas to paint. Nevertheless, it seems as though we are waiting for the right thing to happen to have the same mind-blowing experience that our forerunners had before us.

At present, the fashion industry is gearing up for «Season-less» and «See Now Buy Now» movement spreading across the globe at a rapid pace-never seen before in history. Fashion editors and retailers as well as record labels top-brass will be looking at runways for a measurable way for social confirmation of a trend. One way to see the highest-viewed shows is on Vogue.com-through consumer engagement and confirmation form social media. Without a shadow of a doubt, social media has become the biggest transformation that we have seen in the fashion industry. The new mantra, see now buy now introduction will continue to disrupt the industry. If we think about it, the music industry and the fashion industry have been turned upside down because of social media. They are now working together more than ever before to better adapt to this change. At this point in time, the direction of the fashion and music business is now in the power of the consumer. This is where celebrity influencers come into play. Another example of how consumers and the fashion marketplace are able to confirm a trend through social confirmation of community engagement is during the various fashion weeks. This includes the endless content viewed from street fashion, runway fashion — pre-launches and alas, rappers!

Rarely has a rapper asserted himself as quickly and aggressively as a new entity in creative style today as Gunna. Built with a seemingly permanent culture of reinvention into his DNA, Sergio Giavanni Kitchens was born on June 14,1993. He is best known to his fans as Gunna. Most of the audience is aware that Gunna is an American rapper and songwriter. In fact, h e is best known for his song » Drip Too Hard » in collaboration with rapper Lil Baby. While growing up in College Park, Georgia, he would listen to and was inspired by Cam’ron and Outcask. *Gunna was introduced to rapper Young Thug through Keith Troup, a mutual friend and community figure who died in December 2015. He is also known as YSL Gunna, Yung Gunna and Gunna Gunna. He is YSL affiliated but remains indie at this time. Still, the bigger question, in my humble fashion opinion, is how Gunna has become one of the most influential sought-after rappers in the music industry while simultaneously astonishing both his audience and the fashion world with his new culture drip! Having been immersed in a group where everybody was using the same tools on a day to day basis, Gunna chose not fight change but rather to embrace it. This is what has powered his innovation and has led to his rapid progress and great success.
In my opinion, the people who really create things that change industry or better yet, become industry defining, are both the thinker and the doer in one person. This is my perspective of Gunna. In the post-social media era, we have witnessed investment bankers who wish to start music and fashion companies that are purely commercial, purely transactional. The industry has become a toxic environment as investors are waiting to cash in on the next big thing leaving little wiggle room for creativity. Evidence for that statement can be seen everywhere. If we look back along the timeline of rap we can find that the earliest rappers were war machines of a totally different order that gave entrepreneurial rappers the culture and the character that it has today. For me, Gunna has amplified these inherent abilities of lyrics, rapping and style that have spectacular magnitudes for a world in the midst of transformation. Sadly, we had been working in the hammer and-chisel phase of the rap revolution. Until now, Gunna recently arrived centerstage and essentially has augmented the human intellect of music and style to next level. Even more astonishing to me, is that the new popular culture is a youth culture. As my readers will discover, rap entrepreneurs have become role models. But what most are unfamiliar with is that Gunna is positive role model and fashion influencer. In fact, one of the biggest fashion influencers in the game. This is drip next level. Allow me to explain why.

The virtual world gives menswear brands and consumers the ability to predetermine the person that they wish to represented — as seen by others throughout all social media platforms. My point is that we must make something relatable and even many times, envied in hopes of finding an achievable level of acceptance. In present times, consumers and followers alike seemingly receive reassurance through likes and click throughs; without this reassurance, consumers tend to reflect critically upon ways to gain acceptance and approval from their social community.
