President Donald Trump sent a letter to Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO), threatening to permanently suspend funding to the organization unless it demonstrates substantial improvements.
On April 14, the U. S. suspended contributions to the WHO after the Trump administration deemed the organization’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak a failure. A U. S. investigation into the WHO confirmed an alarming connection between the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the WHO.
The top concern cited in the letter to Ghebreyesus was the WHO’s inability to independently investigate the spread of the virus in Wuhan, instead parroting reports from the Chinese government.
“The World Health Organization consistently ignored credible reports of the virus spreading in Wuhan in early December 2019 or even earlier, including reports from the Lancet medical journal,” the letter reads. “The World Health Organization failed to independently investigate credible reports that conflicted directly with the Chinese governments official accounts, even those that came from sources within Wuhan itself.
