The remaining 3 ex-officers in the brutal killing of George Floyd are being charged with crimes in connection with his death and an announcement is expected anytime now.
11:50 AM PT — We spoke with Attorney Lee Merritt, who tells us the reason he and others have been pushing so hard for the officers involved in Floyd’s death to be held accountable … is to encourage all cops to start becoming part of the solution to police brutality.
Lee hopes George’s murder case sends a message — cops need to oppose bad cops in order to be good cops. He says this can be a positive step toward changing a system that’s enabled mistreatment of black people for so long… and there’s already signs it’s happening.
Unfortunately, Merritt says President Trump’s idea of dealing with protesters goes against this message … so he offers another approach.
11:18 AM PT — Derek Chauvin, the cop who was charged with 3rd-degree murder in the death of George Floyd, is now facing an upgraded charge — second-degree murder … this according to Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar.
