Massachusetts reported another 50 deaths from coronavirus and 233 new cases Friday, according to health officials, yet hospitalizations continue to decrease sharply.
The 50 new deaths, including 11 probable cases, doubled Thursday’s death count of 25. The state’s COVID-19 death toll is now 8,013.
Of the 233 new cases,149 were confirmed and 84 were listed as probable. There are now 103,071 confirmed infections in the commonwealth and 108,070 total cases, according to the Department of Public Health.
As 16 states across the nation see spikes in case counts and test positivity rates, the Bay State’s seven-day average positive test rate was 1.
