Polling suggests West has a far more favorable image among Trump’s voters than Biden’s.
Rapper Kanye West on Saturday announced via Twitter that he would seek the presidency, not in 2024 as he initially said he would, but in 2020, leading some to suggest that West would siphon off votes from presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden, but the available data suggests that’s not the effect a West run would have.
Political analyst Rachel Bitecofer claimed on Twitter that the Trump campaign “worked Kanye West via Elon Musk” to “siphon off 10,000s of votes via write-in.” These votes, she said, would come from “young black men, who in polling are a softer demo for Biden/Dems.” Even if that held true, polling suggests that not all of those votes are Biden’s to lose.
