SNES classic Donkey Kong Country is one of three new games coming to Nintendo Switch Online this month.
It’s been a while since the last batch of games were added to the library of NES and SNES classics on Nintendo Switch. There’s still no sign of Earthbound – much to the chagrin of one Thumbsticks contributor – but three new games have been confirmed for release on July 15,2020.
The headline act is Rare’s 1994 SNES classic, Donkey Kong Country. The bold and colourful platformer was once a trailblazer of graphics tech, achieving its distinctive visuals by transforming 3D models into sprites. It looks a little rough around the edges today, but it’s still a rollicking game with an all-time great soundtrack from David Wise.
Next up is Natsume Championship Wrestling, a well-liked SNES grappler from 1994. It’s not a game we’ve played before, but its bold visuals are appealing, and we look forward to giving the multiplayer mode a bash.
The final addition is the 1990 NES game, The Immortal, a fantasy isometric adventure that was considered to be quite violent in its day. We’re pleased to a see an EA-published title make it to Nintendo Switch Online. Hopefully it will pave the way for more of the publisher’s games, such as the beloved SNES version of Sim City.

Found it interesting, entertaining, useful, or informative? Maybe it even saved you some money. That’s great to hear! The Mafia Definitive Edition remake has slipped a month due to “challenging” COVID-19 working conditions.
A little under two months ago, we reported that the Mafia trilogy was getting a spit and polish. Specifically, the first Mafia game is getting a full, ground-up remake; Mafia 2 is getting a visual upgrade remaster; and Mafia 3 is, well, staying the same because it’s only a few years old.
Mafia 3 was, of course, available to purchase at the time of the announcement. It’s a current-gen game. You can just go and pick it up. The Mafia 2 Remaster received a surprise launch on the day of the announcement.
And the Mafia remake, called Mafia Definitive Edition? That was set to release on August 28,2020. Was.

“Finalising everything in time for that launch date has become increasingly challenging due to the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic,” reads the statement on the official Mafia Twitter account, “and the last thing we want to do is compromise the quality of the experience.”
Mafia Definitive Edition will now release on September 25,2020, with an extended gameplay preview scheduled for July 22.
