Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady is still rocking an iPhone 6. Why?
Getty Tom Brady New Buccaneers QB Tom Brady is a few years removed from being tangled in a cell phone controversy and in the year 2020, he’s under scrutiny, albeit much less severe, for his phone again. Brady is apparently using an iPhone 6. That’s according to Coley Mick of Barstool Sports, who wonders whether Brady is having financial problems because of his lack of phone upgrade and contract that doesn’t come close to Patrick Mahomes’ half-billion-dollar deal. Back in 2015, the NFL wanted Brady’s cell phone as part of their investigation into the QB having a hand in illegally deflating footballs. Brady’s phone was allegedly smashed to pieces and the former Patriot claimed he switches up his phones every eight months and that was why, per CBS Sports. “Brady testified that it is his practice to destroy (or give to his assistant to destroy) his cellphone and SIM cards when he gets a new cellphone. Mr. Brady also testified that, based on his typical practice, he would have asked to have the existing cellphone destroyed at or about the same time he began using his new cellphone. According to records provided by Mr. Brady, he began using a new cellphone — and based on what Mr. Brady and his counsel described as his ordinary practice, gave his old cellphone to his assistant to be destroyed — on or about March 6, 2015, the very day he met with Mr. Wells and his team to be questioned about the tampering allegations.” If Brady truly destroys his phones every eight months, it makes sense that he’d go with an older cheaper model…or does it? I don’t know what it feels like to have a $25 million dollar contract.
