An estimated 39,776 cases of the virus have been recorded in Orange County in the last 14 days.
The Orange County Health Care Agency reported 3,995 new cases of the coronavirus on Tuesday, Jan.19, increasing the cumulative total in the county to 214,808 cases since tracking began. The update includes Monday and Tuesday’s case counts because there was no post on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday: Monday: 1,681 cases; 46 deaths; 14,853 tests given Tuesday: 2,314 cases; 64 deaths; 12,430 tests given There were 110 deaths reported by the county on Tuesday, raising the total number of reported deaths to 2,477. The data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates or gathered through the course of case investigations and can take weeks to process. The most recent death recorded was on Jan.10. The county also reported 2,007 patients in local hospitals with the coronavirus on Tuesday.
