Apple CEO Tim Cook is testifying in a lawsuit brought by Fortnite maker Epic Games, defending his company’s policies that demand all apps meet Apple’s guidelines before they’re allowed into its app store. Epic is pushing for a change, saying it should be allowed to run its own app store for the iPhone, with its own payment technologies separate from Apple’s. Cook’s appearance caps a three-week trial that’s already featured testimony from both companies’ executives, partner companies, economists and other experts. All of them are attempting to figure out whether Apple illegally wields monopoly power, as Epic claims, and if so what should be done. Cook is answering questions put by lawyers from both Epic and his own company, as well as responding to questions from US District Court Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers, who’ll make the ruling on the case.
