The video, known as “Charlie Bit My Finger, ” has been sold for $760,999 at auction and has been taken off of the popular video streaming site. An NFT, or non-fungible token, is a growing technology in the digital art world that is now moving into the world of internet memes. An NFT is a unit of data stored on a block chain which is a type of digital ledger. An NFT certifies a digital asset. This technology can be used on digital assets such as images, gifs and even video. While NFTs certify the ownership of a digital asset, that is different from the copyright and does not scrub the use of the asset from the internet. When it comes to the video of the now 17 and 15-year-old Harry Davies-Carr and Charlie Davies-Car, the Davies-Carr family decided to remove the original video from the platform after the sale of the NFT.
