Production for the Western film will not resume until an investigation is over, producers said in a letter to staff.
Alec Baldwin was “practicing a cross draw” with a prop gun when a shot from the firearm fatally wounded cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of “Rust,” the movie’s director told investigators. Director Joel Souza recalled “hearing what sounded like a whip and then loud pop” on the film’s New Mexico set last Thursday, before Hutchins grabbed her midsection, CNN reported, citing a search warrant affidavit released Sunday. Baldwin was practicing the gun-drawing technique while “sitting in a pew in a church building setting,” Souza said.
