While the media and most of Hollywood were quick to write-off actor Johnny Depp after his ex-wife, Amber Heard, issued explosive accusations of domestic violence, some in the glitterati have made public statements in support of the actor. Depp has sued Heard for more than $50 million dollars, claiming the actress defamed him in a Washington Post op-ed describing herself as a victim of domestic abuse. The actress has countersued for $100 million. From ex-lovers to comedians, here are ten celebrities who have offered public support to the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor. Comedian and actor Bill Burr said last week that Depp is “f***ing destroying” in his defamation trial against Heard, adding that the actor might be owed public apologies from people who “trashed him,” if the case continues on to show Heard as “lying.” “I heard he is absolutely destroying her,” Burr said on his Monday Morning Podcast, adding, “from what I’ve seen, the guy is f***ing destroying this woman for lying.” “I’m wondering, all these people who just accepted her lies, if they’re gonna apologize somehow, because they publicly trashed him,” the “Mandalorian” actor continued. “It’d be nice if they then publicly apologized and said, ‘maybe next time we won’t jump to conclusions.’” Actress Winona Ryder, an ex-girlfriend of Depp, released a statement following accusations by Heard, emphasizing that Depp was never violent with her and that she, essentially, finds the allegations to be unbelievable. “I am aware of the violence allegations that have been made publicly for the last few years by Johnny Depp’s ex-wife Amber Heard. The idea that he is an incredibly violent person is the farthest thing from the Johnny I knew and loved. I cannot wrap my head around these accusations,” Ryder said in a statement reported by The Guardian in 2020. “He was never, never violent towards me,” she said. “He was never, never abusive at all towards me. He has never been violent or abusive towards anybody I have seen. I truly and honestly only know him as a really good man – an incredibly loving, extremely caring guy who was so very protective of me and the people that he loves, and I felt so very, very safe with him.” “I do not want to call anyone a liar but from my experience of Johnny, it is impossible to believe that such horrific allegations are true. I find it extremely upsetting knowing him as I do,” the “Beetlejuice” actress added. French singer Vanessa Paradis, the mother of Depp’s two children and former partner of 14 years, has publicly called Heard’s accusations “false facts.
