The man accused of stabbing author Salman Rushdie before a presentation last week was indicted for attempted murder Thursday.
Hadi Matar, 24, is due in court Thursday afternoon to face charges for the brutal stabbing on stage Friday at the Chautauqua Institution, in Chautauqua, N.Y., where Rushdie was preparing to be interviewed.
Matar’s defense attorney did not immediately return a request for comment from the Daily News, but told Reuters that Matar had been indicted on one count of second-degree attempted murder and one count of second-degree assault.
