First, the company will use OpenAI’s computer models to upgrade Clyde, the existing Discord bot. Hence, users can expect the new AI-powered Clyde to offer a ChatGPT-like experience.
“Clyde can now answer questions and have extended conversations with you and your friends. Just by typing @Clyde in a server, you can chat with Clyde in any channel,” Discord says.
You can already use ChatGPT on the standalone OpenAI website. But Discord says the integration with Clyde stands out by letting everyone in a Discord server converse with the bot, which can act as a helpful assistant by serving up information and completing requests on command.
In a demo to journalists, Discord showed this can include asking Clyde to find the right GIF for a moment, requesting the time zone for Japan, and offering trivia on cats.
