Tributes poured in following news that Dixie Chicks founding member Laura Lynch died after a car crashed into hers head-on. She was 64.
Dixie Chicks founding member Laura Lynch tragically died in a head-on car crash on Friday afternoon. She was 64.
The musician died after another car crashed into her vehicle on a highway outside of El Paso, Tex., and she was pronounced dead at the scene, TMZ reported on Saturday.
Lynch co-founded The Dixie Chicks with Robin Lynn Macy, Martie Erwin and Emily Erwin in 1990.
The Chicks — who dropped the word “Dixie” from their band name amid the Black Lives Matter Movement in 2020 — mourned Lynch’s loss in an emotional statement posted to their Instagram on Saturday.
“We are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Laura Lynch, a founding member of The Chicks,” they wrote in a joint statement.
“We hold a special place in our hearts for the time we spent playing music, laughing and traveling together. Laura was a bright light…her infectious energy and humor gave a spark to the early days of our band.
