Narrated by someone called “the History Man,” Furiosa tells the story of the titular character, a child born in a secret place known as the Green Place of Many Mothers. While trying to sabotage the vehicles of a group of invading men, young Furiosa is captured, leading her mother, Mary Jo, to pursue her kidnappers across the Wasteland. The men take young Furiosa to the campsite of the warlord Dementus, who kills Mary Jo and keeps Furiosa, calling her “Little D” and hoping to extract information from her.
Dementus then attempts to launch an uprising against Immortan Joe, leader of the bountiful Citadel, but fails. Instead, he negotiates to take control of Gastown, the Wasteland’s oil outpost.
