Here's The List Of Countries Getting Longer Battery Life On The iPhone 17, Thanks To eSIM-Only Models

0

12 regions across the globe, like the U.S., U.A.E., Bahrain, Canada, Japan, and more, are getting eSIM-only iPhone 17 Pro models with larger batteries.
Just as the rumors suggested, Apple has indeed added a bigger battery to iPhone 17 models in countries where it will be selling the eSIM-only variant. While the company has been offering eSIM iPhone models in the U.S. since the iPhone 14, this is the first time that opting for this model will get users longer battery life.
So far, we only have the battery capacities for iPhone models sold in Europe, as it’s mandatory for brands to reveal this information. Even though we’ll have to wait for someone to open up the new iPhones and discover the exact battery capacity inside the U.S. variants, here are the numbers known so far:
As per Apple, the eSIM-only variants can achieve up to 39 hours of video streaming on the iPhone 17 Pro Max, 33 hours on the 17 Pro, and 30 hours on the iPhone Air. In Europe, the efficiency drops to 37 hours and 31 hours, respectively. The Air sees no drop since it’s eSIM-only throughout the globe.
Notably, the base iPhone 17 does not get a bigger battery even in regions with eSIM-only models. If you want the extra battery life on a Pro iPhone, though, purchasing it from any of these 12 regions will fetch you up to two hours of added endurance:
So far, Apple hasn’t announced if it plans to release the iPhone 17 eSIM option in more countries. As of now, users who want a model with longer battery life will have to travel to one of these regions. If your local carrier supports eSIM, you should be able to use an eSIM-only iPhone in your country even if it’s purchased from a different region. eSIM technology is more secure because people can’t just remove the physical SIM card, in case your iPhone gets stolen. In addition, iPhone users can add up to eight lines to a phone, even though they can only use two different SIM cards at the same time. The iPhone 17 pre-orders start this Friday, with the official release on September 19, 2025.

Windows 11 has a new update – these are the top 5 features, but there's also an annoying drawback

0

September patch is unnecessarily bulky for those who don’t have a Copilot+ PC
Windows 11’s September update has arrived
It packs some smart new features, but some are for Copilot+ PCs only
There’s a hidden drawback for those who don’t run a Copilot+ PC, too
The latest Windows 11 update is now rolling out, and it’s packing quite a few features, albeit some of those abilities are exclusive to Copilot+ PCs – and there’s another catch wrapped up in that, too.
This is patch KB5065426 for Windows 11 24H2 (those holdouts remaining on version 23H2 get patch KB5065431).
I’m going to pick out the highlights of the September update for Windows 11 24H2, then round up the rest of the work Microsoft has done here, before discussing the niggly downside with the size of the patch that Windows Latest pointed out.
So, first up, here’s my list of the top features provided by this new Windows 11 update. As ever, some of these capabilities may be on a gradual rollout, so not everyone will see them right off the bat.1. Recall gets a home page
Recall remains a controversial feature for Copilot+ PCs only, but there is a big change here in the introduction of a new home page for the functionality. This highlights all your recent activity in terms of what you’ve just been doing on your PC, and recently taken Recall snapshots, allowing you to quickly resume tasks or access snapshots. For those who use Recall this will likely be a handy addition.2. Agent in Settings comes to more Copilot+ PCs
The AI Agent in settings – which lets you use natural language queries to find options in Windows 11, and offers recommendations for what choices you should make in some cases – is now rolling out to more Copilot+ PCs. Previously, this was only available for devices with a Snapdragon X (Arm) processor, but it’s now on Copilot+ laptops with AMD and Intel CPUs. This is a major move (flagged by Thurrott.com), as it’s a very useful piece of AI-based functionality for those who aren’t so familiar with where to find various Windows 11 options.3. A proper choice with lock-screen widgets
If you want widgets on your Windows 11 lock screen, with this update you can now pick and choose exactly which widgets you’d like to see. This is an important element of customization, although it isn’t clear why it took so long to implement. Before now, it was a case of having all widgets displayed, or none of them (for people outside of Europe, anyway).4. Windows 11 search improvements
Windows search now presents images in a grid view in search results, making finding the pictures that you want easier. Another useful tweak for this central Windows 11 feature is that search will tell you when it’s still indexing files (with a progress bar so you know when it’s done – and the search results are fully complete).5. Task Manager correction
This is a minor change, granted, but an important tweak in my opinion. Microsoft has standardized the reporting of processor usage in Task Manager, so the correct percentage figure is now displayed across the board. Previously, it was the case that different values could be shown for CPU usage within the panel, which was confusing. Now, there’s none of that nonsense going on – the only question (again) is why Microsoft took so long to do this, given that it was a fix put in the pipeline six months ago.Other introductions with the September patch
Microsoft has also implemented a tutorial for its Click to Do feature in this new update, and given Windows Hello a fresh coat of paint, so the secure login functionality now looks more modern.
On top of this, there’s now an option ported across from Windows 10 to have a bigger clock display – which includes the seconds – in the notification center (to complement the smaller clock in the taskbar – you can see how this works in the above screenshot).
System permissions prompts have also been made clearer by dimming the background when they’re displayed.Copilot+ minuses
There are some downsides in Windows 11’s September update which apply to those who don’t own a Copilot+ PC – and that’s most of us. Firstly, the obvious caveat is that some of the highlights here are only applicable to Copilot+ laptops, so the rest of us traditional Windows PC owners don’t get them. (This is an ongoing theme, too – though that’s hardly unexpected, as Microsoft continues to push AI hard).
There’s a catch you may not be aware of, though, as Windows Latest picked up, and that’s the size of these updates. The September patch is a relatively hefty 4GB in size, and it’s bulked up with AI models for Copilot+ PCs. However, normal PCs – which won’t use these models – still get them piped through in updates. That’s an unfortunate inconvenience in terms of download times and the space taken up by the update on your system drive (which could be particularly annoying if you have a laptop with a small SSD).

In our upcoming Apple Products Guide we reveal what we know about Apple’s new product releases coming in 2025.
Over the past five years, Apple has overhauled its entire product range, including transitioning the Mac from Intel to its own processors, introducing the tough Apple Watch Ultra, adding a new Plus model to the iPhone lineup and then dropping it to introduced the iPhone Air. It also introduced a brand-new product category – the Vision Pro headset.
In 2025 so far we’ve seen the introduction of the iPhone 16e, and the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max and the brand new, super slim, iPhone Air. Is more change coming before the end of 2025? If Apple was never to innovate away from the products it makes right now it could be left behind as technology progresses. It’s no surprise therefore that the company is working on various new areas. We don’t expect these to land in 2025, but rumors suggest that some of them still could arrive sooner rather than later.
HomePod with screen: A screen would make the HomePod infinitely more usable, we really hope this rumor materializes. Coming late 2025 or 2026.
New Apple TV: An update that will bring Apple Intelligence to the set top box. Coming late 2025 or 2026.

Coming late 2025 or 2026. New iPhones in 2026
What’s next for the iPhone?
Coming in 2026…
iPhone 17e: The iPhone 17e isn’t expected until early 2026. The iPhone 16e was introduced in February 2025, so an update isn’t likely before it is a year old. Coming Spring 2026.
The iPhone 18 Pro could launch in September 2026, but Apple could delay the iPhone 18 and release that handset alongside the iPhone 18e in the spring of 2027, according to some reports.
There’s possibly one more thing coming in 2026: A folding iPhone! New Apple Watch in 2026
Apple updated all the Apple Watches in September 2025. Launching the Apple Watch Series 11 a new Apple Watch Ultra and a new Apple Watch SE. In 2026 Apple may only update the Apple Watch Series. New AirPods in 2026
The AirPods Max has only had minor updates since it launched a few years ago, but the next generation has yet to materialize. Will they get a full update in 2026?
Read: New AirPods Max rumors for more information. Other Apple products coming from Apple
Cheaper Vision Pro: Apple is said to be at work on two updated models: a cheaper Vision Pro, and another high-end model. There may be as many as four new AR/VR products coming. At any rate an M5 powered Vision Pro is said to be launching soon.
Apple products that (probably) won’t launch…
Apple Car: If you were hoping for a physical Apple Car prepare to be disappointed. Apple has cancelled the Apple Car project after about a decade of development. But this doesn’t mean there is no future for Apple’s car-related research. An update to CarPlay could takes things beyond maps and music, giving users complete control over things like climate control. Read: The Apple Car is dead. Did the AirPods Pro just make the Apple Watch obsolete? This new feature tells me yes

0

I’ve been slowly moving away from my Apple Watch, and with the AirPods Pro 3’s promising health features, I might never put it back on.
The AirPods Pro 3 are confirmed to feature in-ear heart rate sensing. Alongside iOS 26 updates to the iPhone’s Fitness app, users can now start a workout session in the app and use the Pro 3 earbuds to track heart rate, time spent exercising, and calories burned. They can close their Move ring, and earn rewards in the app — no Watch needed.
It’s a massive upgrade for people who habitually use the free Fitness app tier. It’s an even more welcomed upgrade if you’re like me and fitness tracking is the only reason you’re tethered to your Apple Watch. If the AirPods Pro 3’s fitness tracking features work as well as Apple says they will, here’s why they’ll make me retire my Apple Watch for good. One less device to consider
When I go to the gym, my tech arsenal consists of my iPhone 16, Apple Watch SE 2, and AirPods Pro 2. I appreciate my Apple Watch only for its fitness and sleep tracking capabilities, so I opted for the no-frills SE 2 model. My AirPods serve as a vessel for listening to music, canceling the noise from the busy gym, and taking a hands-free call on my way home.
The AirPods Pro 3’s new heart rate sensing feature will allow me to combine what I love most about my Apple Watch with my AirPods, which are undoubtedly my favorite iOS satellite device. Combining both devices will enable me to only worry about remembering to bring, charge, and clean the sweat from one device — I consider that a game-changer.
Other essential features from my Watch, like Crash Detection and basic sleep tracking metrics, are available on my iPhone.Upgraded native compatibility
Apple previewed in-ear heart rate tracking in the Beats Powerbeats Pro 2, but the feature was a flop, characterized by app subscription limitations, connectivity issues, and inaccurate readings. Unlike the Powerbeats Pro 2, which are optimized to perform with iOS and Android, the iOS-exclusive AirPods Pro 3 feature considerably better native integration in the iPhone’s Health and Fitness apps.
The Powerbeats Pro 2’s live heart rate tracking results were buried in the Health app, with the best features reserved for those with a paid subscription for select fitness apps. Its paywalled functionality isolated users like me, who track their workouts in the free Apple Fitness app. I could only track workouts, close my rings, and track my heart rate and burned calories in the Fitness app when my Watch was connected to my phone.
With AirPods Pro 3, I’ll only need my AirPods and iPhone. Upcoming iOS 26 upgrades to Fitness, combined with the AirPods Pro 3’s health tracking features, will allow users to start workouts with Workout Buddy. This AI-powered fitness companion uses your previous fitness data to create personal insights during a workout session.
The AirPods maintain their audio features, providing audio from your iPhone and noise cancellation, a feature missing in the Powerbeats Pro 2. When the Powerbeats Pro 2 were connected to fitness equipment to track your heart rate, they couldn’t play audio.
With improved acoustic structures, noise cancellation performance, a more stable fit, and further integration with the iPhone’s Health and Fitness apps, the AirPods Pro 3 could eliminate the Watch as the middleman.Potential for more accurate data
The AirPods Pro 3, Powerbeats Pro 2, and Apple Watch track heart rate with the same technology: photoplethysmography (PPG). Each wearable uses optical sensors that deploy a green light to detect blood flow. Upgraded Apple Watch models have more sophisticated health technology for more accurate readings, but that technology is not used during a workout.
However, the Beats Powerbeats Pro 2’s PPG sensors pulse 100 times per second to monitor blood flow, while Apple says the AirPods Pro 3’s sensors pulse 256 times per second.
Suppose it’s more important to receive more specific health metrics with a wearable that continually monitors you in the background. In that case, it’s more likely that you’ll hold onto your Apple Watch. But if you’re like me, you may not want another device to bother you about texts, calls, and notifications, especially if the point of purchasing it was to track your exercise.
Additionally, if you find it stressful when your Watch reminds you of periods of inactivity, that you’re not getting enough sleep, or that you may be experiencing anxiety, it could be beneficial to take it off. Even if I’m the only person in it, there’s a small demographic of AirPods enthusiasts and Apple Watch tolerators that Apple is merging together.
With the AirPods Pro 2’s hearing aid feature and the Pro 3’s fitness integration, it’s clear the next ceiling Apple aims to take earbuds through is health and fitness, opposed to a variety of Bluetooth codecs or multiple generative AI features. I’m excited to see what’s next.

«Чрезвычайно эффективна»: эксперт Defense Express о системе ПВО Skyranger

0

В Украине уже есть современные системы Skyranger с программируемым подрывом, способные сбивать дроны и ракеты, – военный эксперт. Что известно читайте ᐅTSN.ua(новости 1+1).
Украина фактически располагает современными системами Skyranger, которые являются более мобильной модификацией Skynex.

I've worn my Apple Watch Ultra for 2 years — here's what it looks like now

0

Here’s how the rugged smartwatch has held up after 700+ days of travel and extreme conditions, and whether I’ll upgrade soon.
Nearly two years old, and my Apple Watch Ultra 2 is still going strong.
I’ve worn my Ultra 2 almost continuously for two years.
It’s been banged, smashed, soaked, baked, and frozen.
Apart from a few small superficial scratches, it’s still going strong.
Today, my Apple Watch Ultra 2 is 702 days old. I’ve worn it nearly 24/7 since October 2023.
It only comes off my wrist to charge, and then it’s back in the saddle.A constant companion
It’s been everywhere I’ve been. It’s been on my wrist during adventures to a handful of countries in blazing heat and freezing cold; it’s been submerged in fresh water, salt water, a few bogs, saunas, and hot tubs; it’s been banged about on rocks, in engine bays, and by kettlebells.
I’ve used it to log many hundreds of miles of walks, hikes, and bike rides (last year alone, I logged well over a thousand miles), and it’s quietly kept an eye on my vitals throughout every day and night. And there was that one time when it turned out to be my only source of light when I was hammock camping in a deep, dark woodland after my headlamp died.
Over the close to two years, it’s become a constant companion. I use it countless times a day to check the weather, set alarms and timers, pay for things, store my plane and train tickets, keep an eye on the tides, and illuminate dark spaces. Physically, it’s holding up well
The titanium is a little scratched around the display, but other than these superficial scratches, it’s as close to perfect as it could be. The display is totally scratch-free, and all the buttons and the crown work like new.
All that’s to show for a lot of abuse are some superficial scratches.
Well, the strap did break when the stitching came apart, and I replaced it with a super-light, super-tough titanium Milanese loop band that has worked out really well and has been a lot more comfortable than I expected.
The band that shipped with my Ultra 2 disintegrated after a little more than 18 months.Internally, it’s good too
Everything works great. Battery life has been great; despite currently sitting at 91%, I don’t notice any real degradation.
It’s been one of my hardest-working, least problematic Apple products ever. It just works.
The Ultra 2 has become a vital part of my EDC.
My Ultra 2 has become an invaluable part of my everyday carry. It helps me stay on track with my health and fitness goals; it is a source of a lot of information at a glance, from notifications to weather, tides, and astronomical data; and it is a handy insurance policy in case I fall or get involved in a car accident.
One thing that I’ve not used much is the cellular feature. I suppose I always have my iPhone close to hand. I’m still paying for the service because it’s only a few bucks per month extra on top of my already expensive all-you-can-eat plan that works pretty much worldwide.
And yes, it’s a lot of money to spend on a watch with a finite lifespan, but then show me a Rolex, Omega, Breitling, or even a Casio or Seiko that’ll do as much as the Ultra 2, and I might consider switching. How long my Ultra might last
A question I’ve often been asked is how long I think an Ultra might last. I’m heading toward the two-year mark, and I think this device has at least another year in it, if not two, before the battery starts to become problematic. Also, the Ultra 2 is still being sold and will be supported for years to come — the upcoming WatchOS 26 supports everything back to the Apple Watch Series 6, a device that was released in September 2020.
That’s a pretty good run for a bit of tech.
Sure, it’s a lot of money, and a standard Series Apple Watch does most of what the Ultra does, but the extra screen real estate and overall tough construction make this a must-have wearable for me. Do I plan to upgrade soon?
So, am I planning to upgrade this cycle, given that I think my Ultra 2 has plenty of life left in it?
I probably will, but not because there’s anything wrong with my Ultra 2. This upgrade will be purely because I’m curious to see what two years of innovation will bring to the platform. I upgraded from the Ultra to the Ultra 2, and that was a decent jump in terms of performance and features, so I’m hoping the new version will bring some new features to play with.

Yesterday, Apple announced its latest iPhones and timepieces. This bad boy is now sweetly discounted at Amazon, by the way, giving you even better value for money.
Instead of coughing up around $250 for the Garmin watch, you can now grab it with a 16% discount — $41 off its original price. It’s not the deepest discount we’ve ever seen, but it does make the watch more affordable. Judge halts Trump's attempt to fire Lisa Cook, orders her reinstatement

Sept. 10 A federal judge has ruled President Donald Trump’s attempt to fire Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook is illegal, and ordered her reinstatement.
U.S. District Judge Jia Cobb issued a temporary restraining order prohibiting Trump from removing Cook from her position on Tuesday, finding that she will likely succeed in her claim that the president was illegally trying to fire her and that her firing was depriving her of her procedural rights protected by the Constitution.
«At this preliminary stage, the Court finds that Cook has made a strong showing that her purported removal was done in violation of the Federal Reserve Act’s ‘for cause’ provision», Cobb said in her ruling. «In addition, the Court finds that the removal also likely violated Cook’s procedural rights under the Fifth Amendment’s Due Process Clause.»
Trump moved to fire Cook late last month on the grounds that she made allegedly false statements on mortgage agreements.
The president’s move to remove Cook was swiftly met by accusations from critics and Democrats of attempting to grab power over the important independent monetary policy-setting agency.
Trump has been feuding for months with her boss, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, to lower interest rates. Despite the insults and demands from the American president, Powell, the Trump-nominated chair from his first term, has stood firm that economic policy will not be influenced by politics.
Cook — the first Black woman to sit on the Reserve Board and the first purported «for cause» firing in the agency’s 111-year history — sued the Trump administration to prohibit her removal, arguing Trump was firing without cause and that permitting the president to do so would irreparably harming.
Cobb agreed with Cook on Tuesday, ruling that the basis of the so-called for cause provision for removal of a Board of Governors member are limited to actions taken in office and «whether they have been faithfully and effectively executing their statutory duties.»
«‘For cause’ thus does not contemplate removing an individual purely for conduct that occurred before they began in office», Cobb said.
Cobb added that the court also agrees with Cook’s argument «that preventing her from discharging her duties as a Federal Reserve Governor, a unique Presidentially appointed and Senate-confirmed role with significant responsibility, itself constitutes irreparable harm remediable only by her reinstatement.»
She said that the public’s interest is in the Federal Reserve’s independence, which also weighs in Cook’s favor for reinstatement.
Cook was nominated to the Federal Reserve by President Joe Biden and confirmed by the Senate in 2022.
On Aug. 15, Federal Housing Finance Agency Director William Pulte, a Powell critic, sent a criminal referral for Cook to Attorney General Pam Bondi, accusing Cook of falsifying documents by signing two separate mortgage documents for two separate properties that claim each is her primary residence. The two documents were allegedly signed two weeks apart during the summer of 2021, before she was on the Federal Board of Governors.
After Pulte made the criminal referral public, Trump called for Cook to resign, which she did not do.
Then in late August, Pulte filed a second criminal referral against Cook, concerning a 15-year mortgage document she signed in December 2021, stating the property was her «second home», but then weeks later calling it an «investment/rental property» on a U.S. ethics form.
Trump, who campaigned on using the office of the presidency to retaliate against his previous rivals, has since returning to the White House in January used executive powers to remove critics from influential positions. These actions included revoking security clearances from officials and law firms involved in his criminal cases and firing opponents, such as Erika McEntarfer, the Senate-confirmed head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Along with Cook, at least two other Trump critics are being investigated for mortgage fraud — New York Attorney General Letitia James and Sen. Adams Schiff of California.
