iPhone 17 vs iPhone 16e: The Best value iPhone in years vs the cheapest

0

Apple’s $599 iPhone 16e made “cheap” look modern. But the iPhone 17 fixes the flaws so well it might be the real budget sweet spot.
Apple may have wrapped up its SE line, but with the iPhone 16e it introduced a new kind of entry-level iPhone — one with flagship-grade performance and a modern design at a lower $599 price.
But the company just announced the iPhone 17, which finally gives the base iPhone the premium features fans have been asking for. For the first time, the standard iPhone comes with a ProMotion 120Hz display, a brighter screen for outdoor use, an upgraded ultrawide camera, a sharper selfie shooter, and faster charging.
For just $200, you can get arguably the best value iPhone we’ve seen in the last decade! So which one should you go for?

The iPhone 16e carries over the older flat-edged design, resembling the iPhone 14. It uses an aluminum frame with glass on the front and back and features Ceramic Shield only on the front. So, it is still a durable phone, but it has thicker bezels, and it lacks some of the refinements that you will find with the iPhone 17.
The iPhone 17 looks and feels more premium. It has slimmer bezels around its larger 6.3-inch display and introduces Ceramic Shield 2 on the front, which Apple claims is three times more scratch-resistant. The back sticks to reinforced glass rather than Ceramic Shield 2, keeping some differentiation from the Pro line.
As for size, the iPhone 17 is slightly taller, thicker, and heavier.
Looks-wise, the iPhone 17 colors are:

And the iPhone 16e colors are simply:

Display Differences
The iPhone 16e uses a 6.1-inch OLED with a standard 60Hz refresh rate and up to 1200 nits peak brightness. It’s a big step up from the LCD screens of past budget iPhones, but it still feels dated in 2025.
The iPhone 17, on the other hand, finally gives the base iPhone a 120Hz ProMotion OLED panel with adaptive refresh from 1 Hz to 120 Hz (enabling the Always-On display feature). It’s also much brighter, peaking at 3000 nits outdoors and 1600 nits in HDR — a huge jump over the 16e, making it easier to use in direct sunlight.
The iPhone 16e is no slouch with the A18 chip, which is the same processor found in the iPhone 16. Paired with 8 GB RAM, it delivers flagship-grade performance at a much lower price point.
The iPhone 17 steps things up, though, with the new A19 chip, built on TSMC’s 3nm process. It’s more efficient and optimized for sustained performance, especially in longer gaming or creative sessions. Both models come with 8 GB RAM, but things are different when it comes to storage: the iPhone 16e starts at 128 GB, while the iPhone 17 doubles that to 256 GB base storage.
On the software side, both run iOS 26, which introduces:
The new Liquid Glass design language
Call Screening for the Phone app
Live Translate during calls
Smarter Messages with custom chat backgrounds and polls
Visual Intelligence features like instant object recognition and dual-camera video capture
Apple Intelligence is available on both, but the most advanced features like the smarter Siri are still on hold until at least 2026.
The iPhone 16e is Apple’s most stripped-down modern iPhone when it comes to cameras. On the back, it has a single 48 MP Fusion main camera that delivers strong image quality with a quad-pixel sensor and Photonic Engine processing. It supports Smart HDR, Night Mode, and 4K Dolby Vision video recording, but you don’t get the flexibility of switching perspectives — there’s no ultrawide for capturing landscapes or macro shots, and no telephoto camera for higher-quality zoom shots.
On the front, the iPhone 16e sticks to a 12 MP selfie camera, which is the same one we’ve seen on previous iPhone models. It supports Portrait Mode and 4K video, but compared to the iPhone 17’s new 18 MP selfie camera, it lacks will probably have less detail and sharpness, and low-light selfies might not be as crisp.
Besides its new selfie camera, the iPhone 17 also comes with:
A 48 MP main camera with a larger quad-pixel sensor that helps create better dynamic range and capture more light in dark conditions.
A brand-new 48 MP ultrawide camera, replacing the older 12 MP one. This upgrade means not only sharper ultrawide photos but also much better macro photography, as that’s the camera that iPhones use for macro.
The new 18 MP Center Stage selfie camera that debuted with the iPhone 17 has a new square-sensor design that gives you sharper detail for selfies and video calls, and the wider field of view makes it better for group shots. With Center Stage, the camera can follow you during video calls to keep you in frame, and AI automatically adjusts framing in group selfies. Thanks to its square design, you also don’t have to turn your phone sideways when you want to take a horizontal shot.
The Camera Control button remains exclusive to the more premium model (not that it’s a big loss), but the AI-based Visual Intelligence features are available between both phones.
The iPhone 16e supposedly has the larger cell — Apple doesn’t disclose battery capacity, so we still don’t know for certain the iPhone 17’s — at 4005 mAh, compared to the iPhone 17’s expected ~3600 mAh. But thanks to a more efficient chip and the new stacked battery design, the iPhone 17 lasts longer.
Charging is another area where the iPhone 17 pulls ahead. It supports 40W wired charging (50% in ~20 minutes), 25W MagSafe/Qi2 wireless charging, and even 4.5W reverse wired charging. The iPhone 16e is limited to 20W wired (50% in 30 minutes) and 7.5W wireless, with no MagSafe magnets or reverse charging.
Here’s a quick look at the iPhone 17 vs iPhone 16e specs:
The iPhone 16e is Apple’s most affordable modern iPhone, offering A18 performance, a solid main camera, and decent battery life for just $599. But it still has that sluggish 60Hz screen, only one rear camera, and slow charging.
The iPhone 17, on the other hand, finally feels like the base iPhone users have been waiting for years to arrive. With ProMotion, a brighter display, a versatile dual-camera system, faster charging, and longer battery life, it’s now a true flagship — all while keeping the same $799 price as last year’s iPhone 16.
For budget-conscious buyers, the iPhone 16e is a great choice and the best way into iOS. But if you want a modern iPhone experience without going Pro, the iPhone 17 will be the far better option.
We will be testing the new iPhone 17, pacing it through our camera, battery, display, and performance tests, so stay tuned for a more detailed comparison between these two.

Charlie Kirk’s assassination latest case that US is suffering an epidemic of leftist violence

We are suffering through an epidemic of leftist violence.
The ruthless assassination of conservative youth leader Charlie Kirk, 31, at a crowded campus event in Utah on Wednesday is the latest manifestation of the hateful rhetoric aimed at President Trump and his MAGA movement.
It’s a sad irony that Kirk’s shockingly public murder happened the day before the trial begins of Ryan Routh, one of the alleged assassins who tried to rub out Trump during the 2024 campaign.
Prescient as always, Kirk understood the consequences of the escalating violent rhetoric of the left, as he and Trump kept winning the hearts and minds of a new generation, especially young men, withlogic and common sense.
“Assassination culture is spreading on the left,” he tweeted two months ago. “Forty-eight percent of liberals say it would be at least somewhat justified to murder Elon Musk. Fifty-five percent said the same about Donald Trump.
In California, activists are naming ballot measures after [CEO killer] Luigi Mangione.
“The left is being whipped into a violent frenzy. Any setback, whether losing an election or losing a court case, justifies a maximally violent response.”
Contrary to the narrative pushed by left-wing media and fanned by Joe Biden and his administration, the political violence is almost exclusively from the left.Dem Encouragement
Setting the scene were the deadly BLM-Antifa riots that engulfed the country in the summer of 2020, which were tacitly encouraged by Democrats like Kamala Harris and Tim Walz as a way to destabilize then-President Trump and then project their own culpability and motivations onto the J6 Capitol riot by Trump supporters one afternoon.
Then, of course, President Trump was the target of two assassination attempts last year, including almost having his head blown off, but miraculously tilting his head at the right moment for the bullet to nick his ear instead.
There was also the arson and vandalism against Tesla dealerships to intimidate Elon Musk and punish him for his support for Trump.
A few months ago, Israeli Embassy staffers Yaron Lischinsky and fiancée Sarah Lynn Milgrim were assassinated by a Palestinian activist outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, DC.
UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was assassinated in December 2024 by a wealthy leftist spouting left-wing critiques of corporate greed and healthcare inequities.
There was the assassination attempt against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh at his Maryland home by a deranged abortion activist, and of course the leftist who shot up Republicans at a congressional baseball practice in Virginia in 2017.Stay up to date on the shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk
Even the arson attack on the home of Pennsylvania’s Democrat Gov. Josh Shapiro, which pundits like Jake Tapper try to cite as an example of bipartisan targets, was perpetrated by a left-wing pro-Hamas anti-Israel activist.
Charlie Kirk’s answer was civil discourse. Contrary to the lies spread by MSNBC and CNN on the day of his death, he was not “a divisive figure” and he did not engage in “hate speech.”
He reached across the aisle and engaged young people respectfully in dialogue. He was never personal or nasty. He was courteous and civilized. He was kind and patient.
He would tour universities under the banner “Prove Me Wrong,” encouraging students to challenge him with any question. He put forward his views calmly and with a smile — capitalism is better than socialism, there are only two sexes — and was happy, and courageous enough, to debate anybody in good faith.
That’s why he won hearts and minds on campuses and galvanized a generation. It’s what made him such a potent political force, helping Trump win in 2024.
It’s why his political opponents had to lie that he was hateful and divisive. It’s precisely because he was neither of those things that young people listened to him.Plainspoken truth
He was not afraid to be plainspoken. He didn’t sugarcoat uncomfortable facts. He told the ugly truths that America tries to bury.
A protective father and husband, he was particularly exercised by the random stabbing murder of 23- year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska on a light rail car in Charlotte, NC.
In one of his last tweets, he wrote: “If we want things to change, it’s 100% necessary to politicize the senseless murder of Iryna Zarutska because it was politics that allowed a savage monster with 14 priors to be free on the streets to kill her.”
“This was one of the . . . coldest, most senseless murders I’ve ever seen,” he said in an interview. “This whole criminal justice reform stuff has been a complete failure.”
He knew that the lies the Democrats and the media told about George Floyd’s death in 2020 are what got Iryna killed.
The lies are what drove disastrous criminal justice reforms, like cash bail and emptying prisons, that were predicated on systemic racism, a nonexistent problem designed to drive a wedge between black and white Americans.
Kirk called out that rancid, divisive lie for what it is. He held up a mirror to Democrats and made them see themselves as they are: the party of projection, accusing others of what’s in their own hearts.
When Rep. Lauren Boebert proposed a prayer for Kirk on the House floor Wednesday afternoon, a dozen Democrats reportedly protested.
You could hear them shout “NO!” and “Pass some gun laws!”
“America will never be the same,” Kirk wrote Tuesday night in his final tweet about Iryna.
It was accompanied by a photo of the young woman, just after she was stabbed, wide-eyed, terrified,
in shock as she looked around at her killer, hand to her mouth, knees pulled up in the fetal position, before she slumped to the floor and bled out.
Kirk wasn’t to know that 12 hours and 35 minutes after he wrote those words, he would join her in death.
No, America will never be the same.
But Kirk’s death, like his life’s work, is a turning point.
Look at what he accomplished in 31 years.
Imagine what he might have gone on to do. In his short life, he formed a future generation of leaders who see the world as he did, clearly, logically, with reason tempered by compassion, and with faith in Jesus Christ.
In death, he may yet accomplish more than he already has. His mode was to be strong, brave and resolute. Live your values. Get married, have children, make the world a better place, with courage and grace for your fellow man.
That’s his legacy, and it’s up to all Americans of goodwill to take up his mission.

Video captures moment Charlie Kirk is fatally shot in the neck at Utah Rally

Shocking footage explodes across social media.
Content warning: This story contains graphic content.
Charlie Kirk was fatally shot during a rally at Utah Valley University on Wednesday night. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead just two hours later, sending shockwaves across the American political landscape.
But before the news of his passing even reached the headlines, the internet had already seized on the tragedy, spreading shock and disbelief across the globe. Within minutes of the attack, raw, chaotic videos captured by people in the crowd flooded social media.
Footage showing Kirk collapsing from a gunshot wound to the neck exploded on X, racking up over 11 million views in just hours. From there, the videos spread to the other platforms, often repackaged with graphics, commentary, and archival clips of Kirk.
The viral spread was unstoppable. On X, accounts like Uncensored News and Breaking911 amplified the clips, with some posts pulling in millions of views in under an hour. Even as moderators scrambled, takedowns proved inconsistent.
Some videos vanished, while others resurfaced almost instantly in new uploads. On YouTube, Google applied age restrictions and removed dozens of videos, but more kept appearing. Meta labeled some clips as «sensitive» but left others untouched.
And on Elon Musk’s platform, where censorship rules are looser, the footage traveled the fastest. For many, it felt like déjà vu. Experts quickly drew parallels to Christchurch, Pittsburgh, and even ISIS propaganda, moments of violence captured on camera.
Hundreds of people replied to Musk’s posts, pleading for the videos to be removed out of respect for Kirk’s family and children. But with millions of shares already logged and countless copies circulating in the shadows, the genie is out of the bottle.

Apple’s Design Team Deliberately Wanted Customers To Have A Difficult Time Between Picking An iPhone Air & iPhone 17 Pro

0

An Apple executive has admitted that this year, the company made it an arduous process for customers to pick between the iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro because of how feature-rich both flagships are
This year, Apple likely surprised the crowd with its iPhone Air because, despite its 5.6mm thickness, it comes packing with top-end hardware, a gorgeous design, and does not extensively compromise on features like other slim smartphones are forced to. At the same time, the technology’s iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are boasting new aesthetics, fresh paint jobs, and some of the best internals for a 2025 flagship series. Naturally, it was going to be a conundrum picking between these two device classes, and according to the latest report, Apple’s design team did this on purpose. One Apple executive says that making it a struggle for customers to pick between an iPhone Air and an iPhone 17 Pro was something that the company has been dreaming about
Are you scratching your head, contemplating which iPhone to pre-order this Friday? Do not worry, because Apple wanted to confuse on purpose. According to The Wall Street Journal, the company’s design team wanted this to happen, with Molly Anderson, VP of industrial design, saying that it is ‘something that we dreamed about for a long time.’
“I really think people will struggle with it. Because, you know, the Pro is a beautiful and incredible product as well. But I think the lightness, the lean towards style, the idea of not carrying so much weight, is just such a different experience.”
The iPhone Air certainly flaunts a breathtaking design, but that is not to say that it comes with its set of trade-offs. Firstly, it only features a single rear camera, and while Apple claims that it features a versatility of its own, a single unit will always have limitations. Additionally, the Cupertino firm added the improved C1X 5G modem to the iPhone Air, but the latter continues to lack mmWave 5G, not to mention that its USB-C port is capped at USB 2 transfer speeds.
However, Apple has attempted to mitigate these compromises by incorporating its N1 wireless networking chip, which is a standard on all iPhone 17 models, and when working in unison with the iPhone Air’s C1X, it can deliver ‘better than expected’ battery life. Still, charging $999 for a product that lags behind last year’s iPhone 16 Pro in some areas is something that potential buyers will be disgruntled about.

San Marino GP: times and how to watch MotoGP next weekend

0

San Marino GP has been dominated recently by Marc Márquez.
MotoGP continues this weekend and moves to San Marino, the tiny country in the middle of Italy, with less than 35,000 habitants, at the Misano World Circuit, which has held the San Marino Grand Prix since 2007 (despite the circuit being in Italy).
In this circuit, Marc Márquez will continue to earn points for his seventh MotoGP World Champion title and ninth overall, but won’t be crowned there, given that his brother Álex Márquez won the Catalan GP last weekend and reduced the distance. Last year, Marc Márquez also won in San Marino. If Marc wins this year (it would be his third consecutive victory at this circuit), he could become champion at the Japanese GP in September 28.
