Pedestrian struck and killed in crash near Lake Phalen in St. Paul

The vehicle driver said he did not see the pedestrian.
A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle early Saturday near Lake Phalen in St. Paul.
Authorities responded to a call of an accident with injuries at about 12:45 a.m. Saturday, according to a St. Paul police spokesman. A driver called 911 and said he had struck a pedestrian while traveling westbound on Maryland Avenue crossing Clarence Street.
When officers arrived on scene, the pedestrian was unconscious and not breathing. St. Paul firefighter medics attempted life-saving measures and transported the victim to Regions Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the driver of the vehicle, an adult male, was cooperative and showed no signs of impairment. He told authorities he did not see the pedestrian and struck him. The investigation of the crash is ongoing, and no arrests had been made as of Saturday morning.
This is the second pedestrian fatality on Maryland Avenue within 24 hours. Abdul Bakr Jafar, 31, of St. Paul, was walking on Maryland Avenue East in Maplewood when he was struck and killed in a hit-and-run early Friday morning.

У вересні 2025 року в Івано-Франківську створили комісію з питань розподілу публічних інвестицій. Відповідне рішення прийняв виконком. Хто увійшов до складу?

У Положенні зазначено, що ця комісія є тимчасовим консультативно-дорадчим органом виконкому Івано-Франківської міської ради, який утворили з метою розподілу коштів бюджету Івано-Франківської МТГ на підготовку та реалізацію публічних інвестиційних проєктів та програм публічних інвестицій.
Серед завдань комісії виділили:
розподіл публічних інвестицій на середньостроковий період з урахуванням пріоритетності, ступеня готовності та наявності відповідного джерела фінансового забезпечення;
застосування єдиних підходів до визначення оптимальних джерел та механізмів фінансового забезпечення проєктів та програм єдиного проєктного портфеля публічних інвестицій Івано-Франківської міської територіальної громади з огляду на характеристики таких проєктів та програм;
забезпечення дотримання граничних обсягів видатків на середньостроковий період за різними складовими публічних інвестицій для забезпечення боргової стійкості та мінімізації фіскальних ризиків;
сприяння ефективному використанню коштів бюджету громади на підготовку та реалізацію проєктів та програм єдиного проєктного портфеля публічних інвестицій Івано-Франківської міської територіальної громади.

These Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Elite Mini PCs Look Like Wafer Thin Coasters

Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Elite and Elite Extreme Edition allow for ultra-thin, fanless PC designs.
At the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit 2025 in Maui, Hawaii, we had the opportunity to check out Snapdragon’s new X2 Elite platform and see it in various form factors. Previously, we focused on the raw power of these PCs and especially how they performed in a laptop form factor. A standard Snapdragon X2 Elite laptop PC connected to a 3840×1080 ultrawide monitor was able to run Fortnite at 1080p, 60 FPS, medium settings, and Qualcomm even stated those numbers could go higher once in a finalized release with up-to-date drivers and software support.
But the Snapdragon X2 Elite does not simply come in one SKU—it actually comes in three. There’s an entry-level, 12-core Snapdragon X2 Elite, a high-end 18-core Snapdragon X2 Elite, and finally an even faster18-core Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme.Compared to the cheaper models, the X2 Elite Extreme offers 228GB/s of memory bandwidth (versus 162GB/s) and soups up both CPU and GPU clocks. Prime Cores have a 400MHz Multi-Core frequency boost on X2 Elite Extreme, and single/dual-core frequencies can actually reach 5GHz instead of being capped to 4.GHz or 4.4GH. Performance Cores also see a 200MHz boost to maximum frequency, and the GPU is also 150MHz faster on X2 Elite Extreme versus the lower-end models.
But what makes all of that information most interesting to us today is the fact that seemingly none of these PCs actually require fans to be cooled at all. This doesn’t necessarily mean they’re passively-cooled—after all, Frore Airjets have existed for a while now—but the ability to maintain these levels of performance without fan cooling or even needing to be plugged in is truly impressive.It also allows for a greater variety of form factors, which we got to see as reference designs on the show floor. While the laptop connected to a larger monitor stole the show slightly, there was also a tablet form factor connecting to a detachable keyboard, and two wafer-thin designs akin to coasters.
The round design is perhaps the more standard of the two, and reminiscent of something Apple or an ultrabook manufacturer might do, if a little wider. It’s a thin, wide aluminum circle with two USB-C ports, a power jack, and a headphone jack. If these PCs go to market, potential buyers would very likely want to invest in a USB hub to expand I/O, or resort to wireless connectivity for their input peripherals.
The slightly more-interesting coaster PC design actually slots into a monitor stand doubling as an all-in-one PC docking station. The docking station and attached monitor serve to greatly expand I/O options without needing to add your own USB hub to the mix, and in theory could allow future upgrades to slot in seamlessly to the old AIO dock. Time will tell whether either of these reference designs actually come to market, but it is interesting to think about.

Президент подтвердил, что израильский Patriot уже месяц работает в Украине, еще два на подходе
Президент Владимир Зеленский во время общения с представителями СМИ сообщил, что в Украине уже месяц работает израильский комплекс ПВО Patriot, и осенью Украина получит еще две системы Patriot.
«Израильский комплекс работает в Украине месяц. Две системы Patriot мы получим осенью. Больше о Patriot я не буду говорить», – высказался Владимир Зеленский.
Ранее Зеленский говорил, что к первым пакетам американского оружия, которые Украина получит за средства других союзников в НАТО по механизму PURL, будут ракеты для Patriot и Himars.
В мае 2025 года издание The New York Times написало, что система Patriot, которая базировалась в Израиле, будет отправлена в Украину после модернизации. Тогда отмечалось, что с учетом «израильской системы» и еще одной из Германии или Греции, Украина будет иметь в общей сложности 10 систем Patriot.
Отметим, в ходе этой же пресс-конференции Владимир Зеленский отметил, что партнерам Украины не надо бояться реагировать на действия России так же, как действует сама РФ. В частности, если РФ угрожает Киеву блэкаутом, то в Москве должны понимать, что тоже могут остаться без света.
Глава государства назвал реакцию НАТО на недавние нарушения воздушного пространства со стороны России недостаточно жесткой.
По словам Зеленского, именно эта мягкость позволяет Кремлю продолжать провокационные действия.

Как сообщал УНИАН, ранее Трамп заявил, что у Украины есть все шансы отвоевать всю свою территорию в пределах первоначальных границ.
Он отметил, что Россия ведет войну против Украины уже три с половиной года. По словам Трампа, «реальная военная держава» могла бы выиграть ее менее чем за неделю.
Кроме того, президента США сказал, что у президента России Владимира Путина есть огромные экономические трудности. Он считает, что сейчас время для того, чтобы Украина действовала.
По данным The Telegraph, король Великобритании Чарльз III сыграл решающую роль в том, чтобы убедить Трампа, что Украина может выиграть войну против России.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told the West on Saturday that any aggression against Moscow would face a “decisive response”, warning against attempts to down aircraft in Russian airspace and accusing Germany of militaristic rhetoric.
As Russia’s war rages in Ukraine, tensions have mounted along Nato’s eastern flank in recent weeks as Estonia said Moscow sent three fighter aircraft into its airspace and Nato warplanes shot down Russian drones over Poland.
“Any aggression against my country will be met with a decisive response. There should be no doubt about this among those in Nato and the EU who … are telling their voters that war with Russia is inevitable,” he told the United Nations General Assembly.
The spate of airspace incursions linked to Russia has unnerved countries in Eastern Europe where Russia is seen as the biggest threat since the end of the Cold War. Hopes have dimmed of any imminent end to Moscow’s war in Ukraine.
US President Donald Trump said this week that he endorsed the idea of shooting down Russian planes that violate Nato airspace, part of a rhetorical shift that saw him mock Russia’s military performance in Ukraine and call it a paper tiger.
Lavrov brushed off Trump’s most recent remarks during a press conference that followed his General Assembly speech, but issued a warning about any moves against aircraft inside Russia.

This floating Google search bar for Windows might be your next big productivity hack. Here’s how to enable it.
You can now run a Google search directly in Windows.
The new Google app for Windows works in Windows 10 and 11.
Google Lens is integrated, so you can search on selected text and images.
If you’re like me, you probably head to Google’s search engine on the web several times a day to get information on specific topics. But if you’re working in Windows, that means you have to stop what you’re doing, fire up your browser, go to Google’s search site, and then enter your query. Wouldn’t it be quicker and easier if you could do all of that without launching your browser? Well, now you can.
A new Google Labs experiment dubbed Google app for Windows can display a floating Google search bar anywhere in Windows. Just type your query in the search field, and the results appear in a scrollable window.
The window works just like the regular results page. You can move from one page of results to another and narrow down the results by images, shopping, news, videos, and more. You can also jump to Google AI Mode if you want an AI-based synopsis of the results.
The new app also taps into Google Lens, which means you can search any text or image on your screen just by selecting it. You’re also able to copy the text or image and translate text into a different language.
To try this out, head to the Google app for Windows lab page. Flip the switch to turn on the experiment and then click the Download app button to grab the installation file. Double-click the file to install the program and then sign in with your Google account when prompted.
A window pops up seeking your permission to access your local files and your files in Google Drive. By default, the app will have access to both locations, but you can disable them if you don’t want those files to be included in your search results.
Wherever you are and whatever you’re doing in Windows, just press Alt+Spacebar to trigger the search bar. In the Ask Anything field, type your search query or question, and the results will appear in the window. To turn off the bar, just press Alt+Spacebar again.
The Google for Windows app works in Windows 10 and 11 and is currently accessible only in the US. Google cautions that the app is still experimental and has some known limitations. If you want to try this out, don’t delay, as Google warns that space is limited.
Google Labs is where the company tests out experimental features to see if they’ll catch on among users. The Google Labs site has been home to a variety of other tools that you’ve been able to take for a spin, including the Google Flow filmmaking program, the Music AI Sandbox, the Jules AI coding agent, Little Language Lessons, Career Dreamer, and NotebookLM.
Most of the current experiments are AI-oriented. That makes senses since companies like Google want to take advantage of the buzz around AI.
But in some ways, AI has been a thorn in Google’s side. That’s because more people are turning to AI bots like ChatGPT and Copilot to ask questions and research information, an activity for which they would have always turned to Google search in the past.
Google needs to make sure that its traditional search engine still remains relevant and popular in the age of AI. Bringing its search directly to Windows is a smart move for the company and one that should also prove handy and helpful to Windows users.
