Trump’s outing to Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab – an upscale establishment about a block away from the White House – marks the first time the president has gone out to dinner in the district since the start of his second term.
“We’re standing right in the middle of DC, which, as you know, over the last year was a very unsafe place, over the last 20 years it was very unsafe, and now it’s got virtually no crime,” Trump told reporters outside the restaurant.
“I wouldn’t have done this three months ago, four months ago, I certainly wouldn’t have done it a year ago,” the president continued. “This was one of the most unsafe cities in the country. Now, it’s as safe as there is in the country.”
Trump, accompanied by Vice President JD Vance, War Secretary Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, urged everybody in the district to “go out” and enjoy the city amid the drop in crime.
“The restaurants now are booming. People are going out to dinner where they didn’t go out for years,” the president claimed, thanking the National Guard and DC Mayor Muriel Bowser for working with his team on the safety initiative.
“The outcome is really spectacular,” Trump said. “We have a capital that’s very, very safe.”
The president was greeted outside the restaurant by loud cheers from across the street and a smattering of boos.
Several anti-Trump protesters heckled the president inside the restaurant as he walked to his table.
“Free DC! Free Palestine! Trump is the Hitler of our time!” several women chanted as they unfurled small Palestinian flags.
But the commander in chief appeared unbothered by the disturbance.
The women walked out of the establishment and were led across the street by law enforcement.
The dinner comes after Trump was pressed by a reporter in the Oval Office last week about his lack of outings to DC restaurants during his first and second terms.
“Do you want me to prove you wrong?” Trump shot back.
“I think it’s something we could consider doing. Love to do it,” he added. “I love the White House food, but after a while, I could see going to a nice restaurant. It’s safe.”
Before entering the eatery, Trump teased an announcement coming “probably tomorrow” on the next city he plans to deploy the National Guard to.
“We’re going to, very shortly, be working it out with the governor of a certain state, who would love us to be there, and the mayor of a certain city in that same state, who would love us to be there,” the president said. “We’ll announce it probably tomorrow, and it’s going to be something we will do like we did here.”
Trump has previously floated the idea of sending troops to Chicago, Baltimore and New Orleans to assist local authorities in counteracting crime.

Composed of original pipes from the 11th century, the AP reports that the instrument emitted a full, hearty sound as musician David Catalunya played a liturgical chant called «Benedicamus Domino Flos Filius.» The swell of music inside Saint Saviour’s Monastery mingled with church bells tolling in the distance. Catalunya said that attendees were witnessing a grand development in the history of music. «This organ was buried with the hope that one day it would play again», he said. «And the day has arrived, nearly eight centuries later.»

From now on, the organ will be housed at the Terra Sancta museum in Jerusalem’s Old City—just miles from the Bethlehem church where it originally sounded. Researchers believe that the Crusaders brought the organ to Bethlehem in the 11th century during their period of rule over Jerusalem. After a century of use, the Crusaders buried it to protect it from invading Muslim armies. There it stayed until 1906, when workers building a new Franciscan hospice for pilgrims in Bethlehem discovered it in an ancient cemetery. Once full excavations were conducted, archaeologists had uncovered 222 bronze pipes, a set of bells, and other objects hidden by the Crusaders.

«It was extremely moving to hear how some of these pipes came to life again after . 800 years of silence», said Koos van de Linde, an organ expert who participated in the restoration. «The hope of the Crusaders who buried them—that the moment would come when they would sound again—was not in vain.» Researchers, directed by Catalunya, set out in 2019 to create a replica of the organ. But along the way, said Catalunya, they discovered that some of the pipes still function as they did hundreds of years ago.

Organ builder Winold van der Putten placed those original pipes alongside replicas he created based on ancient organ-making methods. The originals, making up about half of the organ, still bear guiding lines made by the original Ottoman craftsmen and engraved scrawls indicating musical notes. Researchers hope to finish restoring the entire organ and then create copies to be placed in churches across Europe and the world so its music is accessible to all.

Both devices are expected to launch in October in China and could mark the debut of the company’s new display technology. He noted that, similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro’s introduction of higher refresh rates six years ago, the new models could set a fresh benchmark for visual fluidity. Alongside smoother navigation, the emphasis will also be on enabling ultra-high frame gaming, promising faster response and reduced lag during play.
He further suggested that once these devices adopt ultra-high refresh technology, other manufacturers may follow, repeating a pattern where innovations from OnePlus become industry-wide standards.
According to reports, the OnePlus 15 and Ace 6 may both feature a 1.5K resolution display with support for a 165Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, these devices are expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and 8 Elite chipsets, respectively.

Zarutska is seen in the video curling her legs close to her body as Brown continues to stab her multiple times.
Brutal Murder Caught on Camera
Zarutska, who fled to the US in 2022, hoping to find safety after Russia invaded Ukraine, can then be seen curling up her legs, which can be seen spattered with blood in the video. This came as the FBI announced on Monday that Brown now faces federal charges in addition to the state murder case already against him — charges that could carry the death penalty if he’s convicted.
About 15 seconds later in the footage, Zarutska collapses to the floor. In the background, a passenger’s voice can be heard saying, «he got that white girl.»
The footage shows several passengers frozen in shock and confusion before a man in a gray hoodie eventually rises to follow Brown down the aisle, while a woman in red glances at Zarutska before quickly looking away toward the window.
A few hero passengers tried desperately to perform CPR, while one man tore off his shirt to press against her wound, according to WSOCTV.

A trail of blood was left behind by Brown as he walked out of the train car before stripping off his hoodie. Earlier, he had been watching Zarutska closely from behind before suddenly pulling out what looked like a pocket knife and launching the attack.
Completely Unprovoked and Unreasonable
Brown, a career criminal with 13 prior convictions — including armed robbery — had been out on the streets on cashless bail and was awaiting trial when he allegedly murdered Zarutska. On Monday, FBI Director Kash Patel announced that Brown was being federally charged with one count of committing an act causing death on a mass transportation system.
«The brutal attack on Iryna Zarutska on the Charlotte Light Rail was a disgraceful act that should never happen in America. The FBI jumped to assist in this investigation immediately to ensure justice is served, and the perpetrator is never released from jail to kill again», Patel said in a statement.
Zarutska, who had fled to the U.S. in 2022 seeking refuge after Russia’s invasion of her homeland, is remembered as someone who simply wanted safety and a better life.
«I want to thank Attorney General [Pam] Bondi for her pursuit of today’s federal charges, which are the first step toward delivering justice for Iryna and her family – as well as the millions of Americans who deserve to live in our great American cities free from being targeted by violent criminals», Patel added.
Attorney General Bondi, speaking Tuesday, said the Department of Justice would push for the harshest punishment possible, calling the attack a «direct result of failed soft-on-crime policies that put criminals before innocent people.»
