London mayor tells AP he doesn't care about Trump tweets

0

The mayor of London says he doesn’t care about the accusations being leveled against him by the president of the United States, telling The Associated Press he «really couldn’t be bothered about what Donald Trump tweets.».
The mayor of London says he doesn’t care about the repeated insults he has received from the president of the United States, asserting Tuesday that he «really couldn’t be bothered about what Donald Trump tweets.»
Mayor Sadiq Khan, who made history as the British capital’s first Muslim leader, has repeatedly been targeted by Trump on Twitter. After Saturday’s attacks in the London Bridge area that claimed seven lives, for example, Trump panned the mayor for telling the public there was «no reason to be alarmed» by the atrocity.
In fact, Khan was referring in his televised remarks to the presence of armed officers on the capital’s streets. When the British press ridiculed Trump’s out-of-context quote, the president returned to Twitter to accuse the media of buying the mayor’s «pathetic excuse.»
Reporters repeatedly asked Khan for his thoughts on Trump outside the headquarters of London’s Ambulance Service, where he observed a minute of silence Tuesday to honor of the victims of the attacks.
The 46-year-old mayor, who assumed office in May 2016 after serving in Parliament, generally praised the «special relationship» between the United States and Britain. He calmly explained his opposition to Trump’s proposed travel ban on visitors from several Muslim countries. But he dropped a hint of annoyance when asked about Trump’s social media jibes.
«I don’t know how to tell you this, but I really don’t care, » he told The Associated Press.
Trump’s extraordinary attacks on the popular mayor of a grieving city have disgusted many Londoners, reigniting opposition to a state visit by the American president to the United Kingdom planned for later this year. Prime Minister Theresa May invited Trump a week after his Jan. 20 inauguration.
Khan is among those who have asked the government to reconsider the invitation, describing the state visit as «inappropriate» given the president’s months-long push for a travel ban for passengers from several Muslim majority nations.
Trump’s comments also discomfited many in the United States. They drew an implicit rebuke by the acting U. S. ambassador to the U. K., who praised Khan’s «strong leadership» on Twitter.
Although the spat is embarrassing, Trump’s state visit — which according to traditional practice would include staying at Buckingham Palace as a guest of the queen — does not appear to be in any jeopardy.
British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson — Khan’s predecessor as mayor of London — told BBC radio Tuesday that «the invitation has been issued and accepted and I see no reason to change that.»
Addressing Trump’s proposed plan to bar millions of people from Muslim majority countries from entering the United States, which the president said had been vindicated by the attacks, Khan told the AP he found the idea antithetical to American values.
«There are literally millions and millions of Muslims around the world who love America. They love Britain, they want to come here to study, to be a tourist, to start up a business, to work, to learn. Why would you want to stop them coming?» Khan said.
«We saw on Saturday night some of the people in the health service, some of the consultants, surgeons, were Muslims surgeons, some of them people who’d come to this country from Muslim majority countries, » the mayor continued. «They helped save lives, they reduced the death toll, some of the police officers, some of the armed response teams, who help keep our cities safe, are Muslims.
«What have you got against them?»

Europaweiter DNA-Abgleich: Beging Endinger Verdächtiger weitere Taten?

0

Entsprechende Unterstellungen in sozialen Medien seien falsch.

What should business users get excited about from Apple's WWDC?

0

Apple remembered enterprise users at the WWDC 2017 — in a big way
If there’s one annual event that makes Apple fans’ man buns stand on end, it’s the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) : the show for all things i.
This year’s event has just been held, and as well as the consumer releases there was plenty for business customers, too. Before the show, sources were widely predicting the announcement of new hardware and a refresh to Apple’s desktop and mobile operating systems. What we got was…well, pretty much in line with that, really.
Power to the desktop…
If you’re a serious Apple user, you’ll understand that a Macbook isn’t the most productive device on offer. For that, you need an iMac, and Apple refreshed the lineup at the WWDC.
The 21.5in (both regular and 4k models) and 27in (5k) iMacs have updated displays, going up to 500 cd/m² brightness: a 43 per cent increase. They are said to be the best iMac displays ever. Both models have 7 th -gen Kaby Lake processors from Intel, as well as more RAM: 32GB and 64GB, respectively.
Fusion drives will be fitted as standard on the 4k 21.5in and 27in models and — importantly — the higher-end models now have discrete graphics. Considering the size and resolution of the iMac’s screen, this really should have been standard from the get-go.
The 21.5in iMac will cost $1,100, or $1,300 for the 4k version. The 27in will start at $1,800.
Don’t actually use the iMac like this unless you hate your eyes
Apple will roll out a brand new iMac in December called the iMac Pro: featuring 8-, 10- or 18-core Intel Xeon processors, the computer will use Radeon Vega graphics, up to 128GB ECC memory and feature for USB-C (with Thunderbolt) ports. Apple says that the Pro will reach 11 TFLOPs of single precision compute power and can be used for 3D rendering and high frame rate (90 fps was thrown around) VR. For half precision computation, the desktop can reach 22 TFLOPs. It will cost a wallet-scorching $5,000.
…and the laptop…
Apple didn’t forget mobile customers, and announced Macbooks running the new macOS, High Sierra. There’s nothing too interesting about this version: developers can now access the GPU through an update to Apple’s Metal graphics suite, which also brings VR support; and there have been updates to Safari to include autoplay blocking and intelligent tracking protection. The new APFS filesystem (first seen at WWDC 2016) was also mentioned.
Information about the new laptops was thin on the ground; Apple simply said that the 12in Macbooks and 15in Macbook Pros will be updated to use Kaby Lake processors. Faster SSDs and improved graphics will also be installed.
…and the hand
Long present in the rumour mill, Apple made the 10.5in iPad Pro 2 official this year: but, thanks to slimmer bezels, it’s said to be the same size as the existing 9.7in version (we’ve seen smartphone developers like Samsung and Sony do this before) . A 12.5in model will also be available.
Apple has installed its A10X processor into the new tablet, increasing its power by roughly 30 per cent; storage has also been upgraded. Cameras now stand at 7MP (front) and 12MP (rear) .
The iPad Pro has some impressive display specs
Some interesting tweaks have been made to the display; for starters, like Apple’s Macs, it now supports the DCI-P3 gamut, which is commonly used in film production. Most LCD displays today use the sRGB gamut, but wide colour gamut screens (DCI-P3 or Rec.2020) are becoming more common. Brightness has been increased to 600 cd/m², and HDR video support has been added. The display has an extremely fast refresh rate of 120Hz; Apple says that a feature called ProMotion is responsible for the doubled refresh rate. ProMotion can also dynamically adjust the refresh based on what the user is doing.
A 64GB version of the iPad Pro will cost $650; it is available to order now and will begin to be shipped next week.
What about iOS?
We did say at the top that the WWDC is known for iOS news, and this year was no different. A host of updates is being rolled out for general use, including Siri updates, payments through iMessage and the storing of iMessages in the iCloud. Pro users will get a bit more, though.
iPad owners can use iOS 11 to run split-screen apps, dramatically improving productivity. Just like a Macbook, drag-and-drop is present to organise files and folders; and talking of that, a new app (dramatically named Files) is a management system that can be used to sort files by size and date.
One last thing…
Introduced in classic Apple fashion (i.e. as everyone was just about ready to leave) , the HomePod is Apple’s answer to Google Home and Amazon’s Echo. Although first billed as a consumer device, we wouldn’t be shocked to see the HomePod making its way to a business near you in the future.
As well as its obvious qualities as a smart speaker (Siri can tell you who a certain musician is in the song you’re listening to) , the device can be used to control other HomeKit devices; check the weather forecast; and listen to news briefings.
A note on privacy: the HomePod doesn’t start to receive any audio data until the user says, «Hey Siri, » and the data that does get picked up is encrypted.
Apple will launch the HomePod in December in the UK, USA and Australia, for $350.

South Korea's military scrambles after unidentified object detected in airspace, renewing North Korean concerns

0

North Korea may have launched an unidentified object across its southern border on Tuesday afternoon, leading South Korea’s military to fire warning shots.
North Korea may have launched an unidentified object across its southern border on Tuesday afternoon, leading South Korea’s military to fire warning shots — a potential new provocation amid already heightened tensions between the two countries.
The incident, which is still being investigated by the South Korean military and could be a false alarm, comes two days after the North test-fired a ballistic missile into the sea — the rogue regime’s latest violation of U. N. Security Council resolutions and further evidence of its advancing weapons capability.
Details about Tuesday’s incident were still unclear, but it was reminiscent of a case in January 2016 in which a North Korean drone flew over the Military Demarcation Line, the border defined by the decades-old armistice signed by the two nations.
The object on Tuesday, less than a mile high, was detected moving slowly by South Korean radar about 4 p.m. local time near Cheorwon, a city in Gangwon Province about 45 miles northeast of Seoul, according to the Joint Chiefs of Staff .
The South sent warning messages and then fired warning shots. There were no reports of injuries or damage resulting from the most-recent incident.
It comes two days after the North deployed a solid-fuel, medium-range missile that flew about 310 miles into the ocean, prompting a strong response from the international community. The missile reportedly flew at a steep trajectory, suggesting its range could have been considerably farther.
Solid-fuel missile technology is a significant step for the regime because such devices can be hidden, transported and deployed more quickly, making them difficult for American and South Korean forces to detect. Liquid-fuel missiles require more time to prepare, in the open, before a launch.
The North’s state media said the successful launch of its Pukguksong-2 missile on Sunday — which in theory could fly more than 1,000 miles — had prompted the nation to decide to mass produce it in the future.
In a news release about the most-recent missile test, the United Nations members called the launch “highly destabilizing behavior and flagrant and provocative defiance” of its resolutions dating back to 2006.
“The members of the Security Council agreed that the Security Council would continue to closely monitor the situation and take further significant measures including sanctions, in line with the Council’s previously expressed determination, ” according to the statement.
The North has conducted dozens of missile tests in recent years, and international security experts have tracked the nation’s advancing technical capability. The North already has capability to strike U. S. allies in the region with missiles or conventional weapons, like artillery in South Korea’s case, but the long-term concern is that the North will be capable of putting a nuclear warhead on a missile that can reach a significant American target.
The North has a variety of missiles capable of reaching South Korea and Japan, but it’s building a stable of more reliable devices that could, in theory, strike American military targets in Asia — or someday even the mainland.
In a televised speech earlier this year, the North’s leader, Kim Jong Un, said the country was making progress toward deploying an intercontinental ballistic missile. It’s apparently now a national goal, and the North recently paraded dozens of missiles through the streets of Pyongyang in a show of strength and defiance.

Pokémon lands on Nintendo Switch on September 22 with Pokkén Tournament

Nintendo hosted on of its Nintendo Direct streaming events today, just ahead of E3, and it had big news to share for one of its most popular and beloved game franchises: Pokémon is coming to Nintendo Switch, with its first appearance courtesy of Pokkén Tournament DX, the Pokémon fighting game.
The news came via a dedicated Pokémon Direct edition of Nintendo’s direct show, which gives you an idea of how important the company thinks the news will be for the console and for gamers. It’s definitely something I saw crop up frequently among fan and enthusiast reaction when the Switch was originally announced, and Nintendo’s confirmation that Pokémon would appear in some form on the platform only stoked the flames of fandom.
Switch launched with a relatively light game lineup, though the flagship Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild garnered rave critical reviews and player plaudits. The addition of another solid offering, in addition to the recently released Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and the forthcoming Super Mario Odyssey, should give Switch all the first-party hype juice it needs to continue to drive strong console sales.
Pokkén Tournament offers a range of play options based on Switch’s unique multiplayer option, including local, tabletop and team battles and online play. It’s going to be available on September 22,2017, and there will be a playable version at E3 this year.

WWDC 2017: Everything you need to know about Apple and AR

0

Now the company has announced it, I thought it would be useful to put together everything I know about Apple’s AR approach so far.
“We are high on AR for the long run, we think there’s great things for customers and a great commercial opportunity.” Apple CEO, Tim Cook, July 2016 .
As I expected, Apple has introduced a powerful partnership and platform play to kick-start AR experience creation and distribution across its systems.
The company shared many of the details of its approach at WWDC 2017. This will have a big impact across consumer, creative, and enterprise markets so I thought it would be useful to put together what we know so far.
Apple has leveraged multiple technologies to create an AR ecosystem. When it comes to mobile devices, Apple has introduced ARKit, its new developer framework for the creation of engaging AR experiences.
The idea here is that consumers will use the cameras, processors and motion sensors already packed inside their iOS devices to access AR solutions. Your iPad or iPhone effectively becomes a window to an augmented world.
“By blending digital objects and information with the environment around you, ARKit takes apps beyond the screen, freeing them to interact with the real world in entirely new ways, ” Apple said.
Apple’s developer pages already provide a rich quantity of information around ARKit. They confirm (for example) , that ARKit uses Visual Inertial Odometry (VIO) to accurately track the world around it using camera sensor and CoreMotion data. As I quietly predicted in May 2015,Apple has been able to build its implementation around world leading technologies it quietly acquired with Mataio.
Apple says ARKit provides:
Developers can build AR solutions using Apple’s state-of-the-art computer vision technologies.
Apple specifically suggests they will use ARKit to build games, immersive shopping experiences, for industrial design and more.
Here are a few examples of currently available VR solutions, but there is also big potential for AR deployments in logistics and distribution, emergency response, military, education, medical, and beyond.
One of the more critical supporting technologies for Apple’s AR play is “Metal for VR” within macOS High Sierra. A component of the heavily improved Metal 2 system, Metal for VR offers a range of VR-focused features, including a VR-optimized display pipeline, viewport arrays and stereoscopic visualization frame debuggers.
Metal 2 also builds in support for external graphics processing units (GPUs) . This means you can connect your MacBook or iMac to an external GPU system in order to make use of more powerful graphics processing, which is ideal for AR developers.
“Apps that use Metal, OpenCL, and OpenGL can now take advantage of the increased performance that external graphics processors can bring, ” says Apple.
Don’ t neglect that early versions of the Oculus Rift dev kit ran on Macs, but that effort failed as Macs couldn’ t deliver the graphics support required. There was no news on Oculus at WWDC, but other partners were named.
I’ ve said this before and I’ ll say it again: ignore what you think you know and accept that Apple does partnerships. Its AR partners include Valve in order to provide SteamVR support on Macs. It is also working with Unity and Epic Games’ Unreal engine.
The Valve support means Apple has bought the HTC Vive into the fold – the company demonstrated some of the AR features using an HTV Vive headset.
“With partners like Apple, Google, Intel and dozens more, we will continue to make Vive the best VR platform for consumers, developers and enterprises alike, ” s aid Vive .
It is in development, but right now Unity promises its plugin lets developers use ARKit features like world-tracking, live video rendering, plane estimation and updates, hit-testing API, ambient light estimation, and raw point cloud data.
“Radeon Pro 500 series graphics is recommended for 3D VR content, ” said Unity .
Much more detail for developers here .
SteamVR for the Mac is now available in beta. It provides the same 360-degree, room-scale tracking as the Windows and Linux variants.
“On the development side, we have worked closely with Epic and Unity to make Mac extensions of content built on those engine technologies as simple as possible. Extension tools for those engines, and others, are available as part of this beta, ” the company said.
Unreal Engine 4’s early access support for ARKit is available now on GitHub. Binary support is coming with the Unreal Engine 4.17 Preview in July followed by launch in early August.
Blink and you’ ll have missed it, but WebVR will be supported in Safari on iOS and macOS. That’s significant as that technology should support Web-based VR experiences. Steam confirms it has been working with Mozilla to help enable WebVR support on Firefox, so macOS-based web developers can start using VR.
Developers running macOS High Sierra can make an immediate start on building VR apps using solutions from Unity and Valve. You can already download Unity’s Experimental macOS VR build here. You will also need Steam VR from Valve to use this, which is available here.
Apple knows the core Mac market.
At one time this market was defined by graphic designers, then musicians, web designers and video creatives joined the fold. The Mac felt the impact of mobile, while the next big tech wave, social, was fairly non-platform specific.
This changes with AR – Apple’s move to deliver high-end Mac kit, such as the utterly droolworthy iMac Pro and (promised) future Mac Pro shows the company’s late realization that in order to create AR content it would need to also deliver an ecosystem which can be used to help create it.
Apple now wants to provide the world’s best platform for AR content creatives, from content creation to consumer use.
With this in mind it’s reasonable to expect a range of additional content creation messages from the company in the weeks ahead, look to iMovie, Final Cut X and discussion about new VR creation workflows around Apple solutions.
We now know why Apple has made such a monumental, multi-year effort to ensure tens of millions of iPhone and iPad users are running devices equipped with seriously powerful processors.
That move to 64-bit everything was never trivial, it was a deliberate plan to ensure the company could deliver complex technologies, such as AR. Any mobile device with an A9 processor running iOS 11 will be able to take advantage of ARKit, which means any iPhone from iPhone 6s or later.
“With iOS 11, we’ re delivering the biggest AR platform in the world, and it’s available today for developers to begin building AR experiences using ARKit for hundreds of millions of iPhone and iPad users, ” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering.
This means developers working to create AR solutions will address a market of millions of potential users – and there will be big rewards available to developers who can create something viral.
Just like UK Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn, Apple is frequently underestimated by critics and enemies self-condemned to be forgotten by history. In this case, its move to AR has been well planned and seamlessly executed.
That should fill any enterprise with an interest in AR/VR with confidence. This tech can be part of a multi-year strategy for Apple, and for your company.
Apple has also begun selling its own VR development kit (which it calls the External Graphics Development Kit) .
This is a Sonnet external graphics system with an AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB VR-ready graphics card, Thunderbolt 3 support and a Belkin USB-C to 4-port USB-A hub. Developers purchasing the $599 kit also receive a $100 which they can use to buy an HTC Vive VR headset.
Want to get started? Developers will need to download the Xcode 9 and iOS 11 betas, and then take a look at the ARKit documentation which is here .
I think Apple has been developing its own headsets for years. However, at this stage of the game it may well have decided that making nice with HTC and partners was more important to its plans than shipping Apple Glass. But I’ m not convinced that it will be able to resist this wearable opportunity.
So, what’s the reaction to Apple’s AR plans? Here are a few notable statements:
“While we’ re still very early in the maturity of AR, this is a good first step to get people thinking and playing with the technology, ” Forrester vice president, analyst Michael Facemire told me.
“It’s a much more attractive platform for brands and businesses looking to create augmented experiences, ” said Adam Fingerman, Chief Experience Officer and cofounder at SF-based ArcTouch .
“The digital world will overlay the real world in more detailed and accurate ways and you will be able to interact with Pokémon in a more immersive and life-like fashion, ” said Niantic Labs.
“Apple’s emphatic entry into this space marks the beginning of AR and VR as a mainstream consumer phenomenon, as a market that’s now ready to grow beyond a few million enthusiasts, to reach hundreds of millions and then billions, ” said Epic Games’ Tim Sweeny in a blog post .
This Fall, Apple will make AR mass market. You’d better start planning those Christmas and Thanksgiving AR virals straight away.

Boris Johnson rejects calls to mattock President Trump’s state visit

Boris Johnson has deserted calls to cancel Donald Trump’s state revisit to a UK after a US president’s Twitter conflict on London’s mayor.
Boris Johnson has deserted calls to cancel Donald Trump’s state revisit to a UK after a US president’s Twitter conflict on London’s mayor.
Mr Trump criticised Sadiq Khan in a arise of a London Bridge attack, after he told Londoners not to be dumbfounded about an increasing military presence.
Foreign Secretary Mr Johnson pronounced Mr Khan had been “entirely right”.
But he pronounced there was no reason to mattock a visit, notwithstanding calls by Mr Khan, Lib Dem personality Tim Farron and others.
Mr Farron has labelled Mr Trump “an annoyance to America”, adding on Twitter: “Theresa May contingency repel a state visit. This is a male scornful a inhabitant values during a time of introspection and mourning.”
Mr Khan pronounced Mr Trump was wrong about “many things” and that his state visit, approaching to take place after this year, should not go ahead.
Foreign Secretary Mr Johnson – who is also a former London mayor – shielded Mr Khan, observant he had been “entirely right to contend what he pronounced to encourage people of his city about a participation of armed officers on a streets”.
But he told a Today programme a state revisit invitation had been released and supposed and he saw “no reason to change that”.
White House adviser, Sebastian Gorka, meanwhile, has shielded a president’s comments, observant he was creation a “very current point”.
He told BBC Newsnight: “We have to sale domestic correctness. We have to request probity to a hazard and saying, ‘It’s only business as usual, don’ t worry about a thing’ , [is] a Pollyannaish opinion to a hazard that has killed 170 people in a final dual years in Europe alone and maimed some-more than 700.”
He insisted there was no possibility a state revisit would be cancelled, saying: “If anybody thinks that a state revisit is hold warrant to Twitter afterwards they have no bargain of a attribute between London and Washington.”
Seven people were killed and 48 harmed when 3 group gathering a outpost into pedestrians and stabbed people in bars in a London Bridge and Borough Market areas of a collateral on Saturday night.
Speaking in a issue of a attack, Mr Khan pronounced there were no difference to report a “grief and anger” a city was feeling, before saying: “Londoners will see an increasing military participation currently and over a march of a subsequent few days. No reason to be alarmed.”
The US boss criticised Mr Khan for this on Twitter, saying: “At slightest 7 passed and 48 bleeding in apprehension conflict and Mayor of London says there is ‘no reason to be alarmed!’”
A orator for Mr Khan responded, observant he had “more critical things to do” than respond to Donald Trump’s “ill-informed tweet” that “deliberately” took his remarks “out of context”.
But Mr Trump tweeted again on Monday, saying: “Pathetic forgive by London Mayor Sadiq Khan who had to consider quick on his “no reason to be alarmed” statement. MSM [mainstream media] is operative tough to sell it!”
Appearing on Channel 4 News on Monday evening, Mr Khan pronounced he didn’ t consider a UK should “roll out a red runner to a boss of a USA in a resources where his policies go opposite all we mount for”.
Former Conservative Party chairman, Baroness Warsi, pronounced a state revisit should be indefinitely postponed, revelation a BBC’s Newsnight: “We should only keep kicking this revisit into a prolonged grass.”
Labour’s Chuka Umunna, pronounced Mr Trump had been “incredibly insensitive” for “turning this into some kind of row” and he hoped a revisit would be cancelled if Labour won Thursday’s ubiquitous election.
He said: “If he comes here, given his unpopularity, only consider about a outrageous military apparatus that is going to have to go into manning that state visit.”
Prime Minister Theresa May shielded Mr Khan on Monday, observant he’s “doing a good pursuit and it’s wrong to contend anything else” – though stopped brief of criticising Mr Trump.
Mr Khan and a US boss have clashed several times in a past, with a London mayor criticising Mr Trump’s remarks about Muslims and his attempts to move in a transport anathema opposite people from 6 mainly-Muslim countries perplexing to enter a US, and Mr Trump labelling him a “buffoon” and severe him to an IQ test.

Ciała osób ekshumowanych przez Wojskową Prokuraturę Okręgową w latach 2011-2012 nie będą ponownie ekshumowane — poinformowała we wtorek PAP rzeczniczka Prokuratury Krajowej prok. Ewa Bialik.
Ciała osób ekshumowanych przez Wojskową Prokuraturę Okręgową w latach 2011-2012 nie będą ponownie ekshumowane — poinformowała we wtorek PAP rzeczniczka Prokuratury Krajowej prok. Ewa Bialik.
Walentynowicz, Wassermanna, prezesa IPN Janusza Kurtyki i Przemysława Gosiewskiego.
Pierwszych ekshumowano Lecha i Marię Kaczyńskich. Do końca grudnia ub. roku ekshumowano w sumie 11 osób, choć planowano początkowo 10. Wynikało to z wykrycia jednej zamiany ciał — podsekretarza stanu w kancelarii prezydenta Lecha Kaczyńskiego Mariusza Handzlika i prezesa PKOl Piotra Nurowskiego. Po dwóch miesiącach przerwy, w marcu 2017 r., ruszył kolejny etap ekshumacji. W marcu ekshumowano sześć, a w kwietniu cztery ciała. W maju — pięć. Kolejną osobę – 1 czerwca, a we wtorek — osobistego lekarza prezydenta Lecha Kaczyńskiego Wojciecha Lubińskiego.

0

Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo podpisało dodatkową umowę do długoterminowego kontraktu z 2009 r.
