Chinese President Xi Jinping said downward risks and uncertainties for the global economy are on the rise, and pledged to boost the power of emerging markets on the world stage.
The external environment for developing economies is complicated and grim, Xi said in a speech Tuesday to the BRICS summit of leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa in the coastal city of Xiamen. Xi reiterated that China opposes protectionism and firmly supports the multilateral trading system.
«Beggar-thy-neighbor policy and a zero-sum game mindset don’ t benefit global economic growth, » Xi said, echoing a theme he has sounded this year, including at the World Economic Forum in Davos. The remarks came a day after he met with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto, who also attended the summit, and the two pledged to defend free trade.
Xi added that China will provide $500 million to ease hunger and poverty in other emerging economies and called for developed nations to beef up support for developing countries.
While Xi has spoken against protectionism, officials from the U. S. have criticized China’s trade practices and market access, and the White House recently stepped up pressure over perceived intellectual-property abuses.

Wtorkowa «Rzeczpospolita» informuje, że doradcy, a także adwokaci i radcy prawni zajmujący się podatkami mogą wkrótce zostać zobowiązani do udzielania fiskusowi szczegółowych informacji o planach swoich klientów. Chodzi o zgłaszanie tzw. agresywnych oszczędności podatkowych, czyli dokonywanych na granicy prawa.
Wtorkowa «Rzeczpospolita» informuje, że doradcy, a także adwokaci i radcy prawni zajmujący się podatkami mogą wkrótce zostać zobowiązani do udzielania fiskusowi szczegółowych informacji o planach swoich klientów. Chodzi o zgłaszanie tzw. agresywnych oszczędności podatkowych, czyli dokonywanych na granicy prawa.
Ministerstwo Finansów rozpoczęło prace nad przepisami sprawie zobowiązania doradców, adwokatów i radców prawnych do ujawniania fiskusowi informacji o planach finansowych swoich klientów. Resort nie wyklucza też ograniczenia tajemnicy zawodowej. — Wiemy, że sprawa budzi emocje, i chcemy podjąć na ten temat szeroką dyskusję — zapewnia Dominik Kaczmarski z Ministerstwa. — To pomysły nie do zaakceptowania, grożące utratą klientów — alarmują zainteresowani.
Ministerstwo Finansów, zapytane przez «Rzeczpospolitą» o szczegóły, odpowiedziało, że nie wyklucza żadnej opcji ze względu na konieczność wdrożenia unijnej dyrektywy uszczelniającej podatki. Według informacji dziennika niewykluczone, że w raporcie dla fiskusa podawane będą dane o podatnikach. Resort rozważa też minimalną ingerencję w tajemnicę zawodową — raporty byłyby wówczas anonimowe, bez wskazywania nazwy i danych podatnika.
— Nie wyobrażam sobie, że urząd skarbowy czy ustawodawca zwalnia mnie z tajemnicy adwokackiej. Dla nas to świętość, istota zawodu. Zwolnić z niej może tylko sąd i to wyjątkowo — powiedział Jarosław Ziobrowski, partner w kancelarii Kurpisz i Ziobrowski Adwokacka sp.p.

За інформацією видання, інцидент стався в парку в штаті Орісса. За словами очевидців події, місцевий житель хотів сфотографуватися зі слоном і підійшов до нього занадто близько, чим спровокував агресію.
Зазначено, що чоловік помер в машині швидкої допомоги по дорозі в госпіталь.
Як повідомляв УНН, 2 червня четверо людей, в тому числі 12-річна дівчинка і дві жінки, були розтоптані диким слоном поблизу індійського міста Коїмбатур.

Lilium, a Flying Car Start-up, Raises $90 Million

The fund-raising round for the two-year-old company was led by Tencent Holdings, the Chinese internet giant, and will go toward developing a five-seat vehicle.
LONDON — As interest in flying cars continues to swell, one of the most prominent start-ups working on the technology has gained a big new backer.
Lilium Aviation, a German company that held a successful test flight of the Eagle, its two-seat electric jet at their Munich base this year, announced on Tuesday that it has raised $90 million in a new round of financing.
The investment was led by Tencent Holdings, the Chinese internet giant. Other investors in the round included LGT, the investment vehicle of Lichtenstein’s royal family; Atomico, the venture firm run by a founder of Skype, Niklas Zennstrom; and Obvious Ventures, the investment firm co-founded by the Twitter co-founder Evan Williams. Mr. Zennstrom has previously invested in the company.
Lilium is among several companies looking to usher in an era of Jetsons-type flying cars, including those backed by the Google co-founder Larry Page, Uber and Airbus. But the two-year-old company is trying to stand out by focusing on an electric jet — unlike other models that effectively function more like hovercraft.
The design, by the four graduates of the Technical University of Munich who founded Lilium, is meant to be more energy efficient than competitor’s models. As the start-up demonstrated with its Eagle in April, Lilium’s vehicle is designed to take off and land vertically, like a helicopter.
Lilium is also working on a bigger, five-seat version of what it calls an “air taxi” that could ferry passengers or cargo as far as 300 kilometers, or 186 miles, and reach a maximum speed of 300 kilometers an hour.
“We have highly congested cities where we can do things to improve matters, ” Remo Gerber, Lilium’s chief commercial officer, said. He and his colleagues envision a fleet of air taxis zipping across crowded cities, once the vehicles are created and approved by the various regulators, of course.
“We’ re trying to move from a niche transport vehicle to a mass-transport one, ” he added.
That has obvious appeal to Tencent: Its e-commerce empire could benefit from making such air transport a reality.
“From underdeveloped regions with poor road infrastructure, to the developed world with traffic congestion and sprawl, new possibilities emerge when convenient daily flight becomes an option for all of us, ” David Wallerstein, Tencent’s chief exploration officer, said in a statement.
The cash infusion from Tencent and other investors will help accelerate that work, and allow Lilium to expand beyond its team of roughly 70 employees, Mr. Gerber said.

Wtorkowa «Rzeczpospolita» informuje, że doradcy, a także adwokaci i radcy prawni zajmujący się podatkami mogą wkrótce zostać zobowiązani do udzielania fiskusowi szczegółowych informacji o planach swoich klientów. Chodzi o zgłaszanie tzw. agresywnych oszczędności podatkowych, czyli dokonywanych na granicy prawa.

Resort nie wyklucza też ograniczenia tajemnicy zawodowej. — Wiemy, że sprawa budzi emocje, i chcemy podjąć na ten temat szeroką dyskusję — zapewnia Dominik Kaczmarski z Ministerstwa. — To pomysły nie do zaakceptowania, grożące utratą klientów — alarmują zainteresowani.
Ministerstwo Finansów, zapytane przez «Rzeczpospolitą» o szczegóły, odpowiedziało, że nie wyklucza żadnej opcji ze względu na konieczność wdrożenia unijnej dyrektywy uszczelniającej podatki. Według informacji dziennika niewykluczone, że w raporcie dla fiskusa podawane będą dane o podatnikach. Resort rozważa też minimalną ingerencję w tajemnicę zawodową — raporty byłyby wówczas anonimowe, bez wskazywania nazwy i danych podatnika.
— Nie wyobrażam sobie, że urząd skarbowy czy ustawodawca zwalnia mnie z tajemnicy adwokackiej. Dla nas to świętość, istota zawodu. Zwolnić z niej może tylko sąd i to wyjątkowo — powiedział Jarosław Ziobrowski, partner w kancelarii Kurpisz i Ziobrowski Adwokacka sp.p.

Официальный Киев настаивает на расследовании ООН развития ракетного потенциала Северной Кореи.
Представитель Украины в ООН Владимир Ельченко заявил, что Украина выступает за проведение расследования относительно развития ракетного потенциала Северной Кореи, сообщило Радио Свобода.
«Мы в контексте новой резолюции будем выступать, чтобы Совет безопасности ООН инициировал какое-то новое расследование, благодаря чему страна Северная Корея смогла до такого уровня развить свой ядерный и ракетный потенциал», — цитируют заявление В. Ельченко в сообщении на сайте портала в понедельник вечером.
В. Ельченко отметил, что в Совбезе ООН нет официальных претензий к Киеву, также не обсуждается статья The New York Times относительно вероятной связи успеха КНДР в испытании межконтинентальных баллистических ракет и Украины.
«Мы обсуждали этот вопрос со своими коллегами в Совете безопасности (ООН – ИФ) . Они считают, что это постоянная «утка», никто официальных обвинений в адрес Украины не высказывал — все исходят из того, что это не подтверждено», — подчеркнул он.
