S. Jackson says he smoked weed before games

Former NBA player Stephen Jackson said he occasionally smoked marijuana before playing in games.
Jackson’s admission came on the «I Am Rapaport: Stereo Podcast» hosted by actor Michael Rapaport.
«I just gotta be real, you know, it’s been a couple games where I smoked before games and had great games,» Jackson said in the podcast, which was posted Friday. «It’s been some games where I smoked before the game and was on the bench after three minutes sitting on the sideline, ‘Please calm down, this high has to calm down’ — I done shot three shots that went over the backboard, like, I’m going to be honest, like, ‘Ahh, I gotta calm down.'»
Both Jackson and Rapaport are contributors to ESPN’s NBA coverage.
Jackson also said on the podcast that Don Nelson, his coach while with the Golden State Warriors , knew that the forward smoked marijuana.
«We’re in Utah and the [league’s] drug test people are around, you know, to get our last drug test so we can smoke, right? Don Nelson, we talked about weed all the time, he was cool with talking about weed. We got our last test in Utah, right? So me and [teammate] Baron [Davis] are coming out the locker room just screaming, excited with our last pink slip saying we could smoke for the rest of the season, and Don Nelson hauls ass down there giving us high-fives, like, ‘Yeah, we can smoke now!'» Jackson recalled. «It was cool, the fact that he knows what’s going on off the court with his players, which was great, man. We enjoyed it. That’s why we were a great team. »
Jackson, 38, played for the Warriors for four seasons; he averaged 15.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game over his 14-year career.
Jackson’s most memorable season was the 2006-07 campaign, during which he was traded by Indiana to Golden State and helped the Warriors upset the top-seeded Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the playoffs.

Donald Trump hat die geschäftsführende Justizministerin Sally Yates entlassen. Yates, die aus der Regierungsmannschaft von Barack Obama verblieben war und das Ministerium bis zur Bestätigung von Trumps Ministerkandidaten Jeff Sessions leiten sollte, hatte zuvor das von Trump verhängte Einreiseverbot für Menschen aus überwiegend islamisch geprägten Ländern kritisiert.
In einer Pressemitteilung des Weißen Hauses wird die geschasste Interims-Ministerin scharf kritisiert: Yates habe das Justizministerium «verraten», indem sie sich geweigert habe, eine Rechtsordnung durchzusetzen, die zum Ziel habe, die Bürger der Vereinigten Staaten zu beschützen. Yates sei schwach, wenn es um den Schutz von Grenzen gehe, und sehr schwach beim Thema illegale Einwanderung.
In einem Brief hatte Yates sämtliche Juristen ihres Ministeriums angewiesen, das präsidiale Dekret nicht zu verteidigen. Er sei ihre Verantwortung sicherzustellen, dass die Positionen, die vor Gericht vertreten würden, dem einen Ziel dienten — für Gerechtigkeit einzustehen und für das, was richtig sei, sagte Yates. «Im Moment bin weder davon überzeugt, dass das präsidiale Dekret mit diesen Verpflichtungen vereinbar ist, noch dass es rechtmäßig ist. »
Trump reagierte prompt — zunächst via Twitter : In einer am frühen Abend (Washingtoner Zeit) versandten Kurzmitteilung warf er den Demokraten vor, die Bestätigung seiner Kabinettskandidaten gezielt zu verzögern. «Sie haben nichts auf Lager, außer zu blockieren», schrieb Trump. Kurz darauf teilte das Weiße Haus mit, dass Yates von ihren Aufgaben entbunden sei. Neue Interims-Justizministerin ist demnach Dana Boente, bisher Staatsanwältin im US-Bundesstaat Virginia.
Auch an dieser Stelle ist der Pressemitteilung der Zorn des Präsidenten zu entnehmen: Boente werde als kommissarische Justizministerin fungieren, bis Senator Jeff Sessions «endlich» vom Senat bestätigt werde, wo seine Nominierung «zu Unrecht» von demokratischen Senatoren aus rein politischen Gründen aufgehalten werde.
Der Schritt von Yates zeigt, wie tief die Gräben verlaufen, die Trumps Einreiseverbot aufgerissen hat. Auch im Außenministerium regt sich Widerstand gegen das Dekret: Bis zu 100 Diplomaten sollen ihre Bereitschaft geäußert haben, eine Protestnote zu unterschreiben. Dass sich eine Justizministerin — zumal eine, die das Amt nur überbrückungsweise innehat — öffentlich so deutlich gegen den Präsidenten stellt, ist ungewöhnlich. «So lange ich die geschäftsführende Justizministerin bin, wird das Justizministerium keine Argumente für das präsidiale Dekret vorbringen, außer ich komme zu der Überzeugung, dass es angemessen ist, dies zu tun», hatte Yates angekündigt. Es waren ihre letzten Worte im Amt.
Erwartungsgemäß ganz anders äußerte sich ihre Nachfolgerin: Sie fühle sich geehrt, Präsident Trump in dieser Position zu dienen, wird Boente zitiert. «Ich werde die Gesetze unseres Landes verteidigen und durchsetzen, um sicherzustellen, dass unsere Bürger und unsere Nation geschützt sind. «

Nur der Führerschein war gültig, Mann nach Haftbefehlen festgenommen

Hamm-Bockum-Hövel (ots) — Am Montag, 30. Januar wurde durch Beamte der Polizeiwache Bockum- Hövel gegen 23.20 Uhr auf der Hohenhöveler Straße ein Pkw der Marke Seat überprüft. Bei der Kontrolle des Fahrers wurde festgestellt, dass gegen ihn ein Untersuchungs- Haftbefehl der Staatsanwaltschaft Dortmund und ein Erzwingungshaftbefehl für sechs Tage des Landgerichtes Itzehoe vorlag. Der 34- Jährige ohne festen Wohnsitz wurde daher zunächst dem Hammer Polizeigewahrsam zugeführt und wird später in die zuständige Justizvollzugsanstalt überführt. Es wurde weiter ermittelt, dass der Seat Leon unterschlagen war. Daher wurde das Fahrzeug sichergestellt. Zu allem Überfluss waren auch noch die Kennzeichen zu entstempeln, da für den Wagen kein gültiger Versicherungsvertrag bestand. Weil beim Festgenommenen dann auch noch der Verdacht bestand, dass er unter dem Einfluss von Betäubungsmitteln unterwegs war, musste er sich vor dem Aufenthalt in der Gewahrsamszelle einer Blutprobe unterziehen. Dabei wurden auch noch weitere Betäubungsmittel aufgefunden und beschlagnahmt. Ein weiteres Strafverfahren wird die Folge sein. Der Führerschein des Mannes war nicht zu beanstanden. (str)

«Пытаемся в условиях катастрофической нехватки коксового газа удержать генерацию электричества и обогрев воды для отопления города до утра, 3 и 4 коксовые цехи законсервированы, для дальнейшего поддержания температур коксовых батарей и обогрева города понадобится природный газ. Много природного газа. По аналогии с февралем 2014 года- примерно 18 тыс. кубов в час, для того, чтобы сохранить город Авдеевку и АКХЗ и не допустить гуманитарной и экологической катастрофы «, — написал Магомедов.
Из-за артиллерийских обстрелов Авдеевка осталась без энергоснабжения, электричества и тепла .
Президент поручил правительству развернуть штабы ГСЧС и пункты обогрева для населения, не допустить размораживания систем теплопоставок в жилых массивах и многоквартирных домах, обеспечить поставки из альтернативных источников энергии в социальные объекты – школ и детских садов.
Обеспечение контроля за соблюдением порядка и общественной безопасности в Авдеевке возложено на Вооруженные силы и Национальную гвардию.

Twitter will roll out new features to counter abuse

Twitter said late Monday it is rolling out features soon to counter abuse on its platform, though it did not provide details of the measures it is taking.
“We’re taking a completely new approach to abuse on Twitter. Including having a more open & real-time dialogue about it every step of the way,” wrote company CEO Jack Dorsey, referring to a tweet by Ed Ho, vice president for engineering, in which he promised the changes soon.
“This week, we’ll tackle long overdue fixes to mute/block and stopping repeat offenders from creating new accounts,” wrote Ho in one of a series of tweets .
Twitter has been asked by a large number of users to crack down on abuse and harassment on its platform, with some even quitting the service after being harassed online.
Dorsey asked users in December to identify what were the most important things users wanted Twitter to improve or create in 2017 , and he was able to narrow down on four categories, of which one was abuse. The others were the flexibility to easily fix typos in tweets, and make it easier to follow conversations and find topics.
“We heard you, we didn’t move fast enough last year; now we’re thinking about progress in days and hours not weeks and months,” Ho promised in a message on Twitter. He did not provide details on the changes the company plans to introduce.
A company spokesman did not also provide details, promising to reveal more in the coming days and weeks.
Twitter said in a statement that it is approaching safety with a sense of urgency, and will be rolling out a number of product changes in the coming days and weeks. Some of these will be immediately visible, while the others will be more targeted to specific scenarios.
“We will update you along the way and continue to test, learn and iterate on these changes to evaluate their effectiveness. You can expect to see meaningful progress in this area,» the company said.

Прокуратура получила разрешение на задержание экс-главы банка "Михайловский" Дорошенко

По ходатайству прокуратуры города Киева суд дал разрешение на задержание экс-главы банка «Михайловский» Игоря Дорошенко для решения вопроса об изменении ему меры пресечения с домашнего ареста на содержание под стражей.
Об этом сообщила пресс-служба прокуратуры Киева в Facebook.
«В пятницу, 27 января, Дорошенко не явился к следователю прокуратуры для объявления нового подозрения (кроме хищения имущества, ему дополнительно инкриминируется доведение банка до банкротства). Проверкой информации о болезни Дорошенко, предоставленной его адвокатом, получены документальные подтверждения об отсутствии оснований для его госпитализации», – заявили в прокуратуре.
Отмечается, что в настоящее время органы прокуратуры и СБУ принимают меры для установления местонахождения подозреваемого и исполнения решения суда о его задержании.
Ранее издание FinClub со ссылкой на источник в правоохранительных органах сообщило, что Дорошенко исчез из-под домашнего ночного ареста, и следователь обратился в суд с требованием изменить ему меру пресечения .
В мае прошлого года Национальный банк Украины признал банк «Михайловский» неплатежеспособным. Регулятор заявил, что 20 мая банк осуществил махинации, из-за которых нагрузка на Фонд гарантирования вкладов физических лиц выросла с 1,6 млрд грн до 2,6 млрд грн.
Правоохранители расследуют хищение из банка более 2 млрд грн, в том числе ущерб на 870 млн грн инкриминировали Дорошенко, который является ключевым подозреваемым.
13 августа 2016 года Шевченковский районный суд Киева арестовал его, но 3 декабря Дорошенко освободили из СИЗО без внесения залога, который мог составить 137,8 млн грн. Судья установил ему меру пресечения в виде домашнего ночного ареста с 20.00 до 7.00. 16 января 2017 года Апелляционный суд Киева оставил эту меру пресечения без изменений.

Trump to announce Supreme Court pick Tuesday

US President Donald Trump will unveil his Supreme Court nominee on Tuesday, seeking to tilt the bench to conservatives on long divisive issues including abortion and gun control.
Trump’s choice intends to fill a vacancy left by the sudden death of conservative justice Antonin Scalia in February 2016, which left the highest US court with four conservative and four liberal justices.
The «very big decision,» is to be announced at 8:00 pm (0100 GMT Wednesday) at the White House, Trump told reporters. The candidate is «unbelievably highly respected», he said.
The Supreme Court pick, during prime television viewing, sets the stage for a bruising battle with opposition Democrats.
The Democrats, who are in a minority in both chambers of Congress, are still smarting from the Republicans’ refusal to consider — much less vote on — former president Barack Obama’s nominee for the same Supreme Court seat.
And although Republicans hold 52 seats in the Senate they need 60 to confirm a nominee, which means Trump’s choice must be someone capable of winning some Democratic votes.
Abortion, gay marriage and gun control are just some of the controversial issues on which the Supreme Court is the final arbiter.
Its members are confirmed by the Senate and serve life terms.

Given the advanced age of several sitting justices, Trump could potentially make several appointments during his term, shaping the court’s direction for a generation.
Once confirmed, however, justices enjoy independence and some have proved politically unpredictable, which sharply raises the stakes of the Senate confirmation process.
Trump has said he wants a candidate who opposes abortion and firmly backs the right to own guns.
In a presidential debate in October, Trump said his Supreme Court picks would «automatically» lead to overturning Roe v. Wade, the emblematic 1973 ruling that legalized abortion.
Frontrunners for the post include:
— Neil Gorsuch, 49, an appellate court judge who is considered an ideological match to Scalia and takes a broad view of religious freedom;
— William Pryor, 54, an appellate court judge and former Alabama attorney general seen as an abortion rights opponent;
— Thomas Hardiman, 51, an appellate court judge with a record as a defender of gun rights, police powers and the rights of local governments to display the Ten Commandments.
Trump had said he would announce his pick on Thursday, but then moved the date up amid a raging controversy over his order to temporarily bar refugees and travelers from seven predominantly Muslim countries from entering the country.

Four federal judges issued temporary orders blocking deportations of people detained at US airports, embroiling the fledgling administration in its first major legal challenges. Advocates vow to take the fight to the Supreme Court.
Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer has vowed to fight «tooth and nail» if Trump nominates someone unacceptable to Democrats, an outcome considered likely.
«That just shows you that it’s all about politics, it’s not about qualification,» White House spokesman Sean Spicer told reporters.
«The president has a right to have his nominees taken up. »
But Spicer did not mention that Obama had chosen Merrick Garland, a politically moderate appellate court judge, to win over Republicans, but they refused to even consider him.
Garland has since returned to his old job as chief judge of the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit in Washington.

Президент України Петро Порошенко доручив скликати Тристоронню контактну групу через ситуацію в Авдіївці. Про це заявив заступник глави Адміністрації президента України Костянтин Єлісєєв під час прямого ввімкнення з Берліну в ефірі » 5 каналу «.
«Буквально щойно президент доручив ініціювати скликання надзвичайного засідання Тристоронньої контактної групи в будь-якому режимі, навіть режимі відео конференції, аби обговорити ту критичну ситуацію яка складається навколо Авдіївки», — сказав Костянтин Єлісєєв.
Повідомляється, що у зв’язку із обстрілами була зруйнована важлива інфраструктура міста і є загроза гуманітарної катастрофи.
Президент доручив міністру закордонних справ зв`язатися з членами Ради безпеки ООН.
«Крім того, відбулися контакти із ОБСЄ, яка також готує реакцію на те, що відбувається довкола Авдіївки, тому що ситуацію ми не можемо більше толерувати і потрібні спільні дії для того щоб спинити акти нелюдяності і насильства», — додав Єлісєєв.
Нагадаємо, Порошенко перервав візит до Німеччини через ситуацію в Авдіївці.

В городе Авдеевке Донецкой области, который пострадал в результате активных боевых действий, объявлено чрезвычайное положение. Об этом сообщил глава Донецкой областной военно-гражданской администрации Павел Жебривский в Facebook.
» Объявили в Авдеевке чрезвычайное положение. Нахожусь сейчас здесь. Создали в Авдеевке областной координационный центр, в который вошли руководители города, силовики, спасатели и представители предприятий города», – написал он.
29 января утром боевики обстреляли Авдеевскую промзону и штурмовали позиции украинских военных, целью провокации было обвинить украинскую сторону в нарушении достигнутых договоренностей, сообщали в штабе АТО.
По данным украинской стороны, 29 января на Донбассе погибли пятеро украинских военных , 30 января – еще трое .
Президент Украины Петр Порошенко в Берлине на пресс-конференции с канцлером Германии Ангелой Меркель заявил, что украинские военные погибли от огня артиллерии , которая была установлена боевиками в жилых кварталах Донецка и Ясиноватой. В связи с обострением ситуации на востоке Украины он прервал свой рабочий визит в Германию.
Глава Донецкой полиции Вячеслав Аброськин сообщил, что из-за обстрелов боевиками «ДНР» в городе отсутствуют электроснабжение и вода .
Замглавы специальной мониторинговой миссии ОБСЕ в Украине Александр Хуг сообщил 29 января, что за сутки режим прекращения огня на Донбассе нарушался более 2260 раз .
Вооруженный конфликт на востоке страны начался в апреле 2014 года. Украинская армия противостоит пророссийским боевикам, которые частично контролируют Донецкую и Луганскую области.
