During his speech, Obama thanked Michelle Obama “for taking on a role she didn’t ask for.”
“Michelle LeBon Robinson, girl of the south side — For the past twenty five years, you have not only been my wife and mother of my children, you have been my best friend,” Obama said. “You took on a role you didn’t ask for. And you made it your own, with grace and would grant and with style and good humor.”
The cameras then panned to his oldest daughter Malia Obama, who wiped a tear from her cheek.

“Malia and Sasha, under the strangest of circumstances, you have become too amazing young women. You are smart and you are beautiful. But more unfortunately for more, kind and you are thoughtful and you are full of passion.”
“Endure the burden of years you wore the burden of years in the spotlight so easily. Of all that I have done in my life, I am most proud to be your dad.” (RELATED: Crowd Chants ‘Four More Years’ As Obama Takes The Stage For Farewell Address)

Star Wars' creator George Lucas to site new museum in Los Angeles

0

NewsHubStar Wars’ creator George Lucas will build his Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles,
The project’s organisers announced that after «extensive due diligence and deliberation» the city had been chosen over San Francisco.
The museum will cost over $1bn (£0.8bn) and be financed by Lucas himself.
It will exhibit art and memorabilia from the Star Wars franchise and other cinema classics, including The Wizard of Oz and Casablanca.
The museum will be located in Exposition Park, near other attractions including the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, the California African American Museum and the California Science Center.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said his city was «the ideal place for making sure that it touches the widest possible audience».
«We went after it with everything we have,» he added.
Originally, Lucas had planned to build the museum in Chicago, but he faced local community opposition and abandoned the proposal last year.
San Francisco had offered a site on Treasure Island, in the middle of San Francisco Bay, but failed to win over the project’s organisers.
The new museum will sit near the University of Southern California, where George Lucas studied film in the 1970s.
As well as Star Wars items like Darth Vader’s mask, the museum will show artworks chosen from the 40,000 items in Lucas’ collection, including works by such artists as Norman Rockwell, Edgar Degas, Winslow Homer and Pierre-Auguste Renoir.
Lucas made the first Star Wars film in 1977 and sold the franchise to Walt Disney in 2012 for $4bn.

The Multipurpose Gaming, Music, and Work Space

NewsHubscruffycoxendale ’s home office is more than just one desk with a computer on it, although it’s definitely nice. A quick look around the room shows off some other great gear, including a lovely record collection, a media server for the house, and more.
The whole setup is nice, and if you’re curious about the specs of the machine he’s using, scruffycowendale has this to say in the Imgur gallery (linked below:)
But the PC itself and the desk setup is only part of what makes this workstation so nice. Here’s a shot of the whole office, complete with the record player, mounted records on the wall, and the shelf with the rest of his collection:
I love someone who loves music while they work—or while they play, and this workspace is ideal for all of the above. There are a few more photos in the gallery below, including one of a great-looking media shelf that’s full of movies and other interesting tidbits, and another featuring the resident of one of the turntables…at least the one who has to get out of the way when scruffycowendale wants to use it. Trust me, they’re adorable.

Keeping them to 16:9 helps, too! Include a little text about the stuff you used, how you came up with the design, and any other relevant details. If your clever organization and good design sense catches our eye, you might be the next featured workspace!

Russian hacking of Republicans limited, intel chiefs say

0

NewsHubFBI Director James Comey (left), Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and Central Intelligence Agency Director John Brennan wait to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday.
Russians hacked Republicans during the lead up to the 2016 election, too, Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey told senators Tuesday.
But the hackers were only successful in penetrating state-level organizations and campaigns, as well as an old email domain no longer used by the Republican National Committee, Comey said.
«We did not develop any evidence that the Trump campaign or the current RNC was successfully hacked,» Comey said.
Comey, joined by Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, Central Intelligence Agency director John Brennan and National Security Agency director Admiral Michael Rogers, spoke during the Senate Intelligence Committee’s first public hearing on Russian hacking and propaganda efforts that aired emails from Democratic political groups and leaders during the 2016 presidential campaigns.
The question of how much Republican organizations and figures were hacked plays into the sensitive topic of whether Russian spies intended specifically to help Republican candidate Donald Trump’s campaign. On Friday, the CIA, FBI and NSA released a joint report saying all three spy agencies agreed that Russian President Vladimir Putin personally ordered the campaign and did indeed favor Trump for the American presidency.
The release of that report left out any evidence proving that Russian intelligence agencies were behind the hacking and leaking of documents. Critics, including WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange as well as Russian officials , said the report was baseless. On Tuesday, intelligence officials behind the report reiterated that they can’t talk about how they reached their conclusions without jeopardizing their sources. Sen. Richard Burr, a Republican from North Carolina and the Senate Intelligence Committee chairman, said the committee plans to vet the intelligence agencies’ sources itself in a classified setting.
Comey’s remarks on Tuesday helped clear up conflicting information that came out in December. That’s when The New York Times reported that the RNC had been hacked by Russian spies, too, but RNC director Reince Priebus denied that the hacks happened.
None of the data taken from state-level campaigns or the old RNC email domain were released, Comey said Tuesday.
Republican Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas pushed back on the intelligence community’s assessment that the hacking, leaking and propaganda efforts were meant to support Trump’s candidacy. He asked pointed questions about when Putin decided Trump could actually win the campaign.
«Is it possible that they only leaked the Clinton material because they thought she was going to win? » Cotton asked, to which Clapper replied that was a logical conclusion.
However, other Republicans made it clear they didn’t care who the hacks helped or hurt this time around, only that they represented interference in US politics from a foreign government.
«Neither political party should be taking this lightly,» said Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who ran in the Republican presidential primary. «This is not a partisan issue. »
Democrats pounced on the opportunity to question Comey about whether the FBI is investigating communications between Trump’s campaign advisers and Russian officials. Comey declined to comment on whether there was any ongoing investigation.
Sen. Ron Wyden, a Democrat from Oregon, said he would expect an answer to his question during a future classified briefing with Comey. But he also said the information shouldn’t stay classified.
«I think the American people have a right to know this,» Wyden said. «If there is delay in releasing information to the American people before January 20, I’m not sure it’s going to happen. «

US Intel report: Russia allegedly obtained 'compromising' info on Trump

0

NewsHubA classified intelligence report on the Kremlin’s suspected efforts to meddle with the U. S. election reportedly includes a bombshell allegation: that Russian operatives have compromising personal and financial information about President-elect Donald Trump.
According to CNN , the allegation was presented to Trump last week in a meeting with U. S. intelligence chiefs to discuss claims of Russia’s role in sponsoring hacks that influenced last year’s election.
Trump had questioned Russia’s role in the hacking of the Democratic National Committee before the meeting, but afterwards changed his tune and conceded Russia could have played a role.
The allegation that Russian operatives have sensitive information on Trump is based on memos from a former British intelligence operative, CNN reported on Tuesday.
“The FBI is investigating the credibility and accuracy of these allegations, which are based primarily on information from Russian sources, but has not confirmed many essential details in the memos about Mr. Trump,” CNN said.
Trump and his camp have yet to respond to CNN’s report.
The report said the Trump allegations were included in a two-page synopsis attached to a classified U. S. intel report presented to Trump at the intelligence meeting. The synopsis reportedly claims that “Trump surrogates and intermediaries for the Russian government” allegedly exchanged information during the campaign.
The former British intelligence operative behind the findings previously worked for MI6 and was posted to Russia during the 1990s, according to CNN. He now runs a private intelligence gathering firm.
An hour after CNN ran its report, Buzzfeed published the operative’s 35-page dossier on Trump in its entirety. It makes a series of explosive claims about Russia’s attempts to influence the election including through hacking and contact between Russia and the Trump team.
The claims have not been verified and perhaps that’s why they have not surfaced until now. The allegations have been circulating for months in Washington D. C. and were known among journalists and politicians, according to The New York Times.
Funding for the operative’s research came from Republican opponents of Trump and later donors supporting presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, CNN said.
On Tuesday, U. S. intelligence leaders met in a senate intelligence committee hearing over the Russian election-related hacks. FBI director James Comey declined to say whether his agency was investigating Trump over possible connections with Russia.
There’s been no sign that Russia ever hacked Trump’s presidential campaign, he said. However, Russia did hack into state-level Republican organizations and local voter registration databases during the election, Comey added.

Gesundheit: Masern 2016 weniger verbreitet

0
