Ah, the movie that put Singapore on the world map, well more so anyway, except everyone else thinks all we do is sip margaritas on top of Marina Bay Sands, and hold lavish parties at hidden sprawling mansions. We’re all for Asian representation… but do us regular Singaporeans want to be stereotyped this way? Either… Continue reading “NYLON’s Holiday Gift Guide 2018: Crazy Rich Asians”
The next cool thing to own is no longer the Dyson Supersonic. The Airwrap is a revolutionary hair styling tool to get bouncy bobs and natural curls without damaging your hair too much because it doesn’t apply direct heat to your hair. Plus it also works on damp hair, which means that you can reduce your hair-styling time! The entire set comes with various curl barrels and brushes in a sleek grey and pink curler that looks amazing. It should be a crime to fall for pretty packaging but hey, if we have the cash, why not?
While the rest of us listen to music on JBL speakers, the 1% have a circle that’s $5,200. Granted it’ll probably sound like heaven. Siiiiiigh…..
This is not the Pen of the Year for no reason. The Imperium Romanum Platinum Fountain Pen has a nib made out of 18-carat gold and the denarius in the cap is modelled on a very rare silver coin from the year 44 BC, depicting Caesar’s head. If you are a CRA, signing papers with this writing instrument will be pretty damn cool.
What do you get for the millennial girl and guy who has everything? The same stuff we all want… but by Hermès, of course.
As much as we love our bodies, there is no way that we are going to spend $3,105 on a bodysuit that barely covers anything. Unless we are crazy rich, that is. Decorated with elaborate peony embroidery, this 95% silk piece is sensual and intriguing — the prettiest pieces truly have the highest prices.
Did somebody say “yacht party”?! If there’s one thing Crazy Rich Asians and SGInstababes have in common it’d probably be about living the high life and parties at extravagant venues, like a “yacht”. No no, we’re not trying to throw shade here, but what better way to add some bling to your outfit than a pair of 18K Gold Cartier shades, designed just for the biggest of parties, am I right?
You’ve probably already seen it on celebrities like Kylie Jenner (who had 6 Cartier Love Bracelets stuck to her arms for years before going bangle-free recently) but these have proven to be no stranger in the rich kids scene. So if you’re looking for a flashy accessory to shackle yourself with this Christmas, this Cartier Bracelet is one to make the list.
Wearing gold is overrated, drinking it is not. The local company TWG Tea stocks one of the most expensive teas in the world — white tea leaves pleated with 24 carat gold. The packaging is meant to look like a magic potion and it is described as “the elixir of life”, which only the rich can afford, not the 99% of us peasants…
The Oscars may no longer have official “swag bags”, but this year, “Everyone Wins” gift bags worth over $100,000 each were given out to the nominees… a rose by any other name, eh? Whatever new sympathetic name they give it, each set includes a 12-night luxury holiday to Tanzania, and these high-quality vegan lashes from Le Céline. Now, your friend doesn’t need to worry about her lashes falling out while fluttering them at a Nick Young-wannabe.
This iconic quilted cuff fashioned with the house’s signature lion in diamonds is exactly what would be on the arm of a crazy rich millennial. Sigh…
Remember the scene from Crazy Rich Asians when Astrid walks into a jewellery store and buys a pair of rare royal Burmese earrings that cost a million dollars? This is not that pair (sorry for leading you on), but this gorgeous Wild Rose 18-karat gold, diamond and quartz clip earring is one to add into your walk-in wardrobe. Every (rich) girl deserves a (crazy expensive) beautiful pair of earrings.
The brand describes this as “four scented candles that transform the home into another ambiance”. Designed by Marc Newson, these candle holders are cast in handmade ceramic, and fashioned with a natural leather handle. They look beautiful and probably smell even better — but we’ll never know; because at this price, only a CRA would actually burn it.
Sometimes if you look rich enough, that’s enough to get you places. Dress up with these gorgeous Moonstone pearls, and smize for those cameras. And the snowflake-inspired gems add a touch of festive spirit, just in time for all those Christmas parties.
I bet her dog’s name is Chanel or Miu Miu… These pint-sized dogs have steaks for dinner and travel around in their owner’s $5k handbag, they’ve never had a taste of dried dog food nor peed by the sidewalk… small soul but they bark the big bucks. Of course, they have to dress the part, why not do it in Thom Browne?
Ah, LEGO tiles — they’re the building blocks of our childhood imagination, and every Singaporean kid’s probably familiar with its distinct form… unless you’re seeing the world through diamond-encrusted glasses. We can’t believe it either, but here’s a cheeky but costly $1.6k version, thoughtfully crafted with sterling silver and American walnut. Privilege starts young, you don’t say!
Traveling in style doesn’t just mean business class tickets and fashionable airport outfits, but also having the accessories to match. This leather travel trolley is a classic suitcase (Royal family-approved by the way!) that you can easily carry on board. Made with merlot fiberboard, the case also comes lined with silk damask fabric with straps to secure your travelling necessities whilst keeping them safe from those rough airport handlers. You would’ve thought that stumping up for first class meant better service, but you can never tell these days.
Why purchase your heir/heiress a toy car when you can get him/her a real BMW to drive? This is a 3/5th’s size replica of the Blanc Chateau 1936 BMW, it is handmade in France and can quickly be delivered anywhere in Europe. (I’m sure if you’re a CRA, having it sent to Asia wouldn’t be a problem, after all… money isn’t an object).
