Trump continues criticism of intelligence community on Twitter

0

NewsHubCBS News has learned that U. S. intelligence has intercepts of Russian officials expressing pleasure that their plan to meddle in the American presidential election was successful, and Donald Trump won the White House, according to U. S. officials. The Russian motive was primarily to hurt Hillary Clinton’s candidacy — Mr. Trump’s victory was an added bonus.
The president-elect was critical Thursday night of the fact that at least one media organization had information from the classified report that he is to be briefed on Friday at Trump Tower. One day before the highly-anticipated briefing with the four heads of the major intelligence agencies, Mr. Trump sent a series of tweets that seemed to criticize the intelligence community.
In the first tweet, Mr. Trump wondered how NBC had obtained an intelligence briefing that President Obama received on Thursday — and which Mr. Trump is scheduled to receive on Friday.
How did NBC get „an exclusive look into the top secret report he (Obama) was presented? “ Who gave them this report and why? Politics!
Mr. Trump then cited a recent report in BuzzFeed News that the FBI did not ask the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to see its servers after the alleged hack.
The Democratic National Committee would not allow the FBI to study or see its computer info after it was supposedly hacked by Russia……
Mr. Trump also cast doubt on the hacking allegations, about which he has long expressed skepticism.
So how and why are they so sure about hacking if they never even requested an examination of the computer servers? What is going on?
Additionally, one of the his transition’s teams intelligence advisors, former CIA director James Woolsey, announced he would not longer be working with them. In an interview with CNN , Woolsey said his quitting had nothing to do with Mr. Trump’s comments.
But Mr. Woolsey admitted earlier in the day on CBSN’s “Red & Blue” that Mr. Trump had been “critical” of the agencies. “There’s no doubt about that,” Woolsey said.
Mr. Trump has been skeptical of the intelligence community’s handling of the alleged Russian interference in the U. S. election. On Tuesday, Mr. Trump seemed to agree with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who had said in an interview with Fox News that Russia was not the source of files hacked from Democrats before the election. Mr. Trump later denied on Twitter that it was not the case that he agreed with Assange.
Mr. Trump’s tweets are believed by intelligence officials to be having a negative effect on the intelligence workforce. Director of National Intelligence James Clapper suggested on Thursday at a hearing about the Russian hacking that Mr. Trump’s public criticism was leading to low morale.
Intelligence officials say the tension is palpable as Trump prepares to receive the Russia hacking report from Clapper and the heads of the CIA, NSA and FBI .

Toyota assures Trump after threat over Mexico plant

0

NewsHubNEW YORK, Jan. 5 (UPI) — Toyota Motor Corporation assured President-elect Donald Trump on Thursday that a planned auto factory in Mexico won’t take any jobs from the United States.
The automaker’s response was prompted by a tweet from Trump Thursday that read, „Toyota Motor said will build a new plant in Baja, Mexico, to build Corolla cars for U. S. NO WAY! Build plant in U. S. or pay big border tax. “
In a statement, Toyota clarified that the new plant will be built in Guanajuato, Mexico, not Baja — although the company does have a plant there.
„Toyota has been part of the cultural fabric in the U. S. for nearly 60 years. With more than $21.9 billion direct investment in the U. S., 10 manufacturing facilities, 1,500 dealerships and 136,000 employees, Toyota looks forward to collaborating with the Trump Administration to serve in the best interests of consumers and the automotive industry,“ Toyota said .
Keeping and bringing jobs to the United States was a central issue in Trump’s campaign, and the president-elect has already made multiple moves aimed at accomplishing a growing domestic labor market.
In its response, Toyota added that its Mexico operations complement U. S. operations, particularly a truck plant in San Antonio that produced 230,000 Tundras and Tacomas last year. It also said $700 million was invested last year at plants in Kentucky, Alabama, Indiana and West Virginia.
Asian governments and businesses have been wary of Trump’s coming administration, partly because he plans to cancel the Trans Pacific Partnership — a trade deal adopted last year aimed at facilitating business among the United States and several Pacific Rim nations.
Shares of Toyota ( NYSE: TM ) fell on the New York Stock Exchange in Thursday trading after Trump’s tweet, before finishing at $120.44.

Obama Calls Chicago Torture A ‘Despicable’ Hate Crime [VIDEO]

0

NewsHubPresident Obama weighed in on the brutal Facebook video showing four African-Americans torturing a white man in Chicago, calling it a “despicable” act and a hate crime.
Obama commented on the incident during an interview on Thursday, after Chicago police announced that the four suspects involved in the vicious crime have been charged with kidnapping, hate crimes and a slew of other offenses.
Obama denied that racial tensions have increased in the Windy City, his home town. He said that smart phones and the Internet has just made such incidents more visible.
“What we have seen as surfacing, I think, are a lot of the problems that have been there a long time,” he said told CBS Chicago .
“Whether it’s tensions between police and communities, hate crimes of the despicable sort that has just now recently surfaced on Facebook.”
“I take these things very seriously,” Obama continued.
The video, which was released on Wednesday, shows four suspects screaming “fuck white people” and “fuck Donald Trump” while tormenting, assaulting and cutting their 18-year-old white captive.
The suspects kidnapped the victim on Dec. 31. He is said to be mentally impaired.
Earlier on Thursday, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said it was “too early to tell” if the suspects committed a hate crime. Though Obama now says that the brutal attack is a hate crime, it is unclear if the administration will pursue federal charges.

NewsHubFormer CIA Director James Woolsey has left the Trump transition team, a spokesman confirmed in a statement Thursday evening.
“Effective immediately, Ambassador Woolsey is no longer a Senior Advisor to President-Elect Trump or the Transition. He wishes the President-Elect and his Administration great success in their time in office,“ spokesman Jonathan Franks said in an email.
Woolsey, who served as CIA director under President Bill Clinton, joined President-elect Donald Trump’s campaign as a senior adviser in September.
Aides to Trump did not immediately return a request for comment.

Trump Is Not Happy About An NBC Story On Russian Hacking Intelligence

0

NewsHubNBC reported Thursday afternoon on the contents of the intelligence report President Barack Obama received earlier in the day on Russia and that President-elect Donald Trump will receive Friday. Trump subsequently tweeted his displeasure that NBC received access to the information in the report.
Donald Trump (Getty Images)
The NBC story, citing two top intelligence officials with knowledge of the report, said that Russia also attempted to hack the White House, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Department of State, and several American companies. Not all of these hacks were successful. The NBC report says that Russian had hacking efforts in the 2008 and 2012 elections, and that the intelligence report does not mention whether the Russian interference shifted the race in Trump’s favor.
Intelligence analysts concluded that Russia led a hacking operation during the 2016 election to undermine American democracy and as “payback” for Obama’s questioning of Vladimir Putin’s legitimacy as Russian president, according to NBC.
Trump tweeted after the report aired, “How did NBC get ‘an exclusive look into the top secret report he (Obama) was presented?’ Who gave them this report and why? Politics!”
It is not clear from the NBC report that they had an “exclusive look” into the intelligence, just that they were told what was in the report President Obama received.

May to visit Trump 'in the spring'

0

NewsHubTheresa May is to visit US President-elect Donald Trump in the spring, Downing Street has said.
In December the PM’s joint chiefs of staff, Nick Timothy and Fiona Hill, travelled to the US to build links with the incoming president’s team.
A source said Mrs May „looks forward to visiting the new president in the spring“.
The meeting is expected to take place at the White House and could be as early as next month, it is understood.
The December trip by Mrs May’s closest aides was part of efforts to build a relationship with Mr Trump ahead of his inauguration on 20 January.
The president-elect first invited the prime minister to visit in a phone-call shortly after his election victory in November.
It had been expected that she would visit Washington in the early months of 2017.

Trump will ask Congress, not Mexico, to pay for wall, sources say

0

NewsHubWASHINGTON — President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team has signaled to congressional Republican leaders that the President-elect’s preference is to fund the border wall through the appropriations process as soon as April, according to House Republican officials.
The move would break a key campaign promise when Trump repeatedly said he would force Mexico to pay for the construction of the wall along the border.
The Trump team argues it will have the authority through a Bush-era 2006 law to build the wall, lawmakers say, but it lacks the money to do so. Transition officials have told House GOP leaders in private meetings they’d like to pay for the wall in the funding bill, a senior House GOP source said.
“It was not done in the Obama administration, so by funding the authorization that’s already happened a decade ago, we could start the process of meeting Mr. Trump’s campaign pledge to secure the border,” Indiana Republican Rep. Luke Messer said on Thursday.
Messer admitted it’s “big dollars, but it’s a question of priorities.” He pointed to a border security bill that Homeland Security Chairman Mike McCaul proposed last year that cost roughly $10 billion.
“Democrats may well find themselves in the position to shut down all of government to stop the buildout of a wall, or of a barrier, or of a fence,” Messer said.
If Mexico refuses to pay for the wall the GOP could add billions of dollars into the spending bill that needs to pass by April 28 to keep the government open. But doing so would force a showdown with Senate Democrats and potentially threaten a government shutdown.
No decisions have been made, GOP sources said.
Republicans point out that then-Sen. Barack Obama, Sen. Chuck Schumer and then-Sen. Hillary Clinton voted for the 2006 bill and argued that since Democrats backed that bill, they should support efforts to fund the current effort.
The thinking behind the strategy is that it is harder for Democrats to filibuster spending bills because of the high stakes involved if they fail to pass in time.
Rep. Steve Scalise of Louisiana, the No. 3 Republican in the House leadership, declined to say Thursday if Congress would pay for the wall.
“We want President Trump to have all the tools he needs to build the wall,” Scalise said. “We’re in talks with him on the details of it as they’re still putting together their team. We still got a few months before there’s another funding bill that’s going to move. We’re going to work with him to make sure we can get it done. We want to build a wall. He wants to build a wall.”

Dell confirms that Windows 10 Creators Update will roll out in April

0

NewsHubIn October – alongside its new Surface Studio all-in-one PC, and Surface Dial rotary input device – Microsoft announced details of the Windows 10 Creators Update , the next major suite of improvements and additions to its OS. Microsoft didn’t commit to a firm release date for the new update, beyond stating that it would arrive sometime in „early 2017“.
Internal references to Windows 10 ‚Version 1703‘ previously hinted at plans to make the Creators Update available in March , as the first two digits of the OS version number are intended to refer to the year of its release, while the last two refer to the month. But a few days ago, a report claimed that the final version number will actually be 1704, pointing towards an April rollout.
At the CES industry expo today, Dell confirmed that the Creators Update will indeed arrive in April, as Petri’s Brad Sams noted on Twitter. Dell also unveiled a new UltraSharp 8K Monitor today, along with the XPS 27 all-in-one and Surface Studio-style Canvas PC.
Key improvements in the Creators Update will include:
Assuming the Creators Update does indeed arrive in April, its rollout will begin just a few weeks before Microsoft’s Build 2017 developer conference , where the company will likely announce key details about its Windows 10 ‚Redstone 3‘ update. That update, which is due towards the end of the year, will include a refreshed user interface, screenshots of which emerged earlier today.

Hands-on with Nvidia’s new 4K HDR-streaming Shield with Android TV

0

NewsHubNvidia’s Shield set-top streaming device got an update at this year’s CES, and it was a big one: The new hardware is 40 percent smaller than the original, with a new Android 7.0 Nougat-based operating system and a redesigned UI that groups games together and just generally organizes things a bit more logically. It also handles 4K HDR content streaming, and boasts the most sources available for such content of any set-top streaming device currently available.
The new Shield looks quite a bit like the hold one, and even has the same Tegra X1 processor powering it inside. Nvidia notes that even though it’s using the same chip as in the previous-generation hardware, which it originally released in May 2015, the company notes that it’s still three times as fast as its closest category competitor when it comes to performance of local games — and Nvidia’s Shield-based version of its GeForce Now streaming gaming service is much improved for a console-beating games performance experience.
Gaming has been improved all around, with a re-engineered backend for how it handles both GeForce Now and Gamestream, which streams games from your own Nvidia GPU-equipped PC. It’s an all-around better gaming device, according to Nvidia, partly due to a switch to all-Pascal GPU architecture for its GeForce Now streaming on the server side, which will use “up to” GTX 1080 cars to deliver the best possible detail and graphics quality while aiming for as close to a smooth 60FPS frame rate as possible for each title available.
Content is also improved, with GeForce Now getting a big bump thanks to day-and-date access to Ubisoft’s entire catalog, including upcoming AAA titles. There’s also Uplay compatibility to bring over your friends list, leaderboards and even multiplayer. GeForce Now multiplayer support is a big addition overall, and allows players to participate in some of the most popular MMOs out there right now.
Gamestream’s backend overhaul means that the new Shield handles up to 4K HDR streaming from titles and TVs that support those technologies (even if your PC monitor doesn’t). It also can now transfer haptic feedback from the game, which was a notable omission on the previous version.
Speaking of that feedback, it’s transmitted via a new Nvidia Shield controller, with a great-looking new design and a much thinner and lighter profile. Nvidia ditched the touchpad that was on the original, since that was originally made for Shield tablet interfaces anyway, and added an ambient microphone for hands-free use of Google Assistant, which isn’t available at launch but will be added in the coming months. Plus it has a conversation mode created just for Assistant on the TV, which keeps the mic open for around 10 seconds or so after your initial “OK Google” command so you can string together queries.
The controller felt terrific to use, and is a huge improvement on the original. It’s included in the box, and its internal battery boasts up to 60 hours of play time on a single charge. Nvidia is also including a Shield media controller in the box, whereas before it was an add-on accessory.
One add-on accessory coming later is a USB dongle that adds Zigbee and Z-Wave compatibility. The Shield is already a SmartThings hub, too, and the dongle will ensure compatibility across all your smart-home devices.
In my time with the Shield, the Google Assistant demo integration wasn’t behaving, but Nvidia notes that it’s still in the testing phase ahead of its proper launch a few months down the road. Other features worked very well, however, including Gamestream and GeForce Now, with no perceptible lag and graphics that put those on my own locally connected consoles, including PS4 and Xbox One, to shame.
I also got to try out the new made-for-TV YouTube 360 app, where you use the Shield controller’s joystick to navigate around the view. It’s an interesting way to use a feature that seems more at home on a VR headset, but one that could be especially interesting for tuning into 360-degree concerts.
It’s a big improvement overall, made even more impressive because most of the features will come to existing Shield devices via a software update — even the ambient Google Assistant stuff will be available if you pick up one of the new controllers, or the Nvidia Spot plug-in AI microphone accessories, which will launch later this year after the Assistant update goes live, for $49.99, according to Nvidia.
The new Shield costs $199.99, the same as its predecessor, and includes the remote as mentioned. There’s also the pro version at $299.99, with 500GB of storage. Pre-orders will begin to ship later this month.

Das sollten Tierbesitzer im Winter beachten

0
