DxOMark has published their results for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and gave it a score of 99, which is the highest score any phone camera has achieved. They even add that it “is a smartphone without any real weaknesses in the camera department.”
DxO calculates their scoring based on a few factors like photo and video taking. The S9 scored a 104 in photo taking as it produces excellent results in all light conditions.
Other factors include great colour reproduction, good exposures and a very wide dynamic range. DxO goes on to add that Samsung has achieved a very good balance between noise reduction and retention of detail on all light levels. When it comes to video, it scored a 91 which may seem low but it is still the highest when comparing video taking for other smartphones out there. DxO praised the S9 for its fast convergence in changing light conditions, swift autofocus, stabilization and efficient noise reduction.
By the looks of DxO’s findings, its safe to say that if you want a phone mainly for its photo taking capabilities, the Galaxy S9 Plus is the best phone out there for now.
