NEW DELHI: Reliance Jio launched its next generation 4G-enabled feature phone JioPhone 2 in July this year at company’s 41st annual general meeting. As announced earlier, the phone is all set to go on sale today. Priced at Rs 2,999, the device is an upgrade to the last year launched JioPhone.
The customers can log on to jio.com in order to purchase the phone. However, in case you are wondering what new the company is offering with the JioPhone 2 then here is a recap of difference between the JioPhone and the JioPhone 2.
The all new JioPhone 2 comes with a QWERTY keypad with four navigation buttons, while its predecessor JioPhone had an alphanumeric keypad. Apart from this, the JioPhone 2 features a horizontal screen which claims to offer better user experience.
The JioPhone 2 also runs Kai OS same as the JioPhone. Same like its predecessor, the JioPhone 2 also comes with 512MB of RAM and 4GB internal storage. The users will also have an option to expand the storage by adding a microSD card.
In term of camera capabilities, the JioPhone 2 sports a 2MP rear camera and a VGA front camera. In this department also both the feature phones offer same quality. Both the devices are backed by a 2,000 mAh battery.
On the connectivity front, the JioPhone 2 offers 4G, VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC and FM Radio and the JioPhone too offers same connectivity options.
The major difference between the two phones is that of price. The JioPhone 2 comes with a price tag of Rs 2,999, while the JioPhone comes with an effective cost of Rs 0. The customer’s need deposit Rs 1,500 for JioPhone which will be refunded to them. On the other hand the company has not yet announced any such scheme with the JioPhone 2.
