The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will be available for purchase in the US in Cloud Silver exclusively via BestBuy and Samsung’s own online store starting on October 5. On the other hand, the Midnight Black colour variant of the Galaxy Note 9 with 128GB of internal storage will be available at all major carriers and retailers starting October 12. The 512GB Midnight Black model will go on sale in the US beginning October 26. Until now, consumers in the US had the option of getting the Galaxy Note 9 only in two colours – Ocean Blue and Lavender Purple.

For now, the Cloud Silver colour option for the Galaxy Note 9 will be exclusive to the US market. After a few weeks, however, Samsung may begin rolling out the new colour option in a few other markets. Whether or not the Cloud Silver option will be offered in India, remains to be seen. The Midnight Black colour, on the other hand, has been available right from the day of smartphone’s launch in the Indian market. Apart from Midnight Black, the Galaxy Note 9 is available in Ocean Blue and Metallic Copper colours in India.
Samsung’s latest flagship device, the Galaxy Note 9 comes with a class-leading 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity Display with 1440 x 2960 pixels Quad HD+ resolution and an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The panel has a pixel density of 516 pixels per inch and is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top. Just like the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus, the Galaxy Note 9 display also happens to be HDR10 compliant. Under the hood, Galaxy Note 9 runs on Samsung’s Exynos 9810 octa-core processor clocked at up to 2.7 GHz with a Mali-G72 MP18 GPU. The variant sold in the US and China, however, runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset instead. In terms of memory, the Galaxy Note 9 is available in two configurations – 6GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 512GB storage. Thanks to Hybrid Dual-SIM slots, users can expand the storage further by up to 512GB for a total of 1TB storage.
When it comes to imaging, the Galaxy Note 9 is very similar to the Galaxy S9 Plus. It sports dual 12MP cameras at the rear with dual OIS and 2x optical zoom. However, the Galaxy Note 9 comes with AI-powered Scene Optimiser feature, which similarly to the AI scene detection feature found on quite a few other 2018 Android flagship smartphones. On the front is an 8MP AF sensor for selfies and video calls. Rest of the key highlights include a 4000mAh capacity battery with fast wired and wireless charging, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, USB Type-C port, an iris sensor, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. The smartphone also comes with a Bluetooth-enabled S Pen that can be used as a remote control in addition to jotting down notes or drawing. On the software front, Galaxy Note 9 currently runs on Android 8.1 Oreo-based Samsung Experience 9.5.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 base variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage is priced at Rs.67,900 in the Indian market. If you wish to have more storage, you can get the 512GB variant of the flagship smartphone, which is priced at Rs.84,900.
