Jimmy Fallon has kicked off the 2017 Golden Globes and he didn’t hold back in poking fun at President-elect Donald Trump , among others, in his opening monologue.
First, the teleprompter went down, to which Fallon joked, “I can do impressions, what do we do here!? … Already you have your Golden Globes moment. “
Then he got right into joking about the 2016 presidential election. He said the Globes were an event “where America still honors the popular vote,” alluding to the fact Hillary Clinton won the popular vote, but lost the election in the Electoral College to Trump.
Next, he spoke about “Game of Thrones” and its notorious villain King Joffrey.
He said fans were wondering “what it would have been like if King Joffrey had lived … well in 12 days we’ll find out,” he said about Trump’s inauguration.
The election jokes also included a nod to Meryl Streep ‘s “Florence Foster Jenkins,” joking even she wouldn’t perform at Trump’s inauguration and that the Globes’ winners were tabulated as always by the accounting firm of “Ernst & Young & Putin. “
Others in the room were not off limits either. Fallon called out Matt Damon , saying his best acting job this year was telling buddy Ben Affleck he was good in “Batman V Superman. “
He also said no matter what tonight, “No one is gonna thank O. J. [Simpson.]”

Martin Shkreli’s Twitter account was suspended after he apparently harassed freelance journalist Lauren Duca.
On Sunday afternoon, Shkreli’s Twitter handle, @ MartinShkreli , didn’t showed his account but instead returned a message: “This account has been suspended.”
Twitter did not immediately respond to request for comment on why the account was suspended. But it came after Duca reported harassment by Shkreli, a former pharmaceutical executive who first made headlines for a massive price hike on a life-saving drug.
On Thursday, Duca posted a screenshot of messages from Shkreli saying, “hey,” followed by: “i have a +1 to the inaug if u wanna be my +1.”
Duca tweeted her response: “I would rather eat my own organs.”

On Sunday, Duca tweeted an image that appeared to show a screenshot of Shkreli’s account before it was suspended. It showed a collage of pictures of Duca at the top of his page and a line in his bio saying “i have a small crush on @laurenduca (hope she doesn’t find out).” His profile picture was a doctored image of himself and Duca.

Shkreli also tweeted that he bought the domain name “marrymelauren.com,” and his followers tweeted more fake images of himself with Duca, The Verge reported .
In an email to CBS News, Duca said: “Martin Shkreli is engaged in targeted harassment, and absolutely deserves to have his account suspended.”
“It’s unfortunate that the only reason people are paying attention is because he’s relatively high-profile,” she said. “Trolling seems to be an automatic occupational hazard for female writers who receive any level of professional attention. That’s something Twitter needs to work harder to fix, but obviously the problem runs far deeper.”
Duca also had a message for what she described as her “personal aggressors.”
“Would I rather you leave me alone? Of course!” she said. “But know that you will never, ever silence me. Every one of your messages only serves to strengthen my resolve. I promise to never stop fighting.”
Duca has been targeted by online attacks since at least last month, when she wrote an opinion piece on President-elect Donald Trump for Teen Vogue and was later involved in a heated debate with Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson.
Duca, a weekend editor at Teen Vogue, was on Carlson’s show to discuss an incident in which Ivanka Trump, Mr. Trump’s daughter, was verbally accosted while on an airplane with her family. She had tweeted that Ivanka Trump’s role in the incoming administration was fair game for discussion.
After a debate on the television segment, she was hit with vicious online attacks .

It may have taken singing and dancing to launch Ryan Gosling into Hollywood’s acting elite.
Gosling has long been a major star and respected actor, but entry into the upper echelon of award-winners and legends-in-the-making has thus far eluded him.
He’s as well-known and beloved for his appearances viral social media memes like “Hey Girl” and “Ryan Gosling Doesn’t Want To Eat His Cereal” than for his movie performances. His award victories have been on the level “Best Kiss” for 2005’s “The Notebook. ”
Gosling’s Golden Globe on Sunday night for best actor in a musical or comedy for his turn as a striving jazz pianist in “La La Land” may be the beginning of the end of his status as mere heartthrob and former “Mickey Mouse Club” star alongside Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake.
It took five nominations for Gosling to win his first Golden Globe, and it’s extremely likely to lead to a trip to the Oscars, where he could be the favorite for best actor.
An Academy Award nomination would be his second — Gosling was nominated more than a decade ago for “Half Nelson” in 2006. It seemed that nod would lead to a steady stream of such nominations, but instead it led to a drought of more than a decade.
Enter “La La Land,” where Gosling got to tap and croon alongside Emma Stone, using some of those same talents he learned on “The Mickey Mouse Club. ” At one point he literally dances his way into the stars at an observatory, an apt metaphor for his current career trajectory.
He was quick to give credit to “La-La Land” writer-director Damien Chazelle and co-star Stone for the boost he got from the film.
“Damien and Emma, this belongs to the three of us,” Gosling said during his acceptance speech. “I’ll chop it into three pieces if you want. ”
Given the glow around “La La Land,” Gosling seemed like a shoo-in for the award over fellow nominees Colin Farrell, Hugh Grant, Jonah Hill and Ryan Reynolds, but the Globes are notorious for pulling surprises, and Gosling left open the possibility that his win was an error.
“This isn’t the first time I’ve been mistaken for Ryan Reynolds,” he said.
