Acer today announced details of its Nitro 5 gaming laptop, which is designed with the casual gamer in mind, and it also announced a new convertible device, which is called the Spin 1.
At the Next@Acer event four weeks ago, the company announced its all-new Nitro line of gaming PCs. According to the company, 43% of gamers are casual gamers, so that is exactly the market that Nitro is aimed at.
While the company announced the device last month, it released more details about the Nitro 5 today.
The device can be powered by a seventh-generation Intel Core processor – along with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 or 1050 Ti GPU – or a seventh-generation AMD A-series chip – which will use Radeon RX550 graphics. That will power a 15.6-inch 1080p IPS display, and it includes Dolby Audio Premium and Acer TrueHarmony for « incredible sound depth ».
There is also a « comprehensive selection of ports », which includes one USB 3.1 Type-C, one USB 3.0 Type-A, two USB 2.0 Type-A, one HDMI 2.0, and one gigabit Ethernet port.
The Nitro 5 will be coming to North America this July for $799, which is a solid price for a gaming laptop. China will also get it in July for ¥5,499, and it’s coming to EMEA regions in August for €1,099.
Acer also announced a new convertible device at Computex, the Spin 1.
As you can see from the image, the Spin 1 is a convertible that weighs 2.76 pounds, and comes in at just 14mm thick.
It sports an 11.6-inch 1080p display, which promises a 178-degree viewing angle. You’ll only get 4GB RAM, and 32GB, 64GB, or 128GB of storage, but that’s not too bad for the $329/€399 price tag. It will be available in the US and EMEA regions in July.
